SAFE HARBOR-ALTERNATIVE MENTAL HEALTH
http://www.alternativementalhealth.com/

Safe Harbor is the webs largest Alternative mental health
organization/clearinghouse. I recently queried them about alleged
affiliations with SCN.

Dear Michael,

Safe Harbor is an independent nonprofit organization that is not
affiliated with the Church of Scientology or any other organization. We
have a few Scientologists who volunteer for us along with people from
many other walks of life around the world. We also receive requests for
help from many Scientologists since they have a strong interest in
helping loved ones avoid psychiatric drugs. CCHRs around the world
routinely refer people to our site, as do many other organizations,
doctors, and even psychiatrist- we get 10,000 visitors a week.

I am the founder of Safe Harbor and have studied Scientology But Safe
Harbor does not exist to promote Scientology or any other religion or
philosophy. Our function is to provide people with safe, non-drug
options for serious mental health problems.

I hope this answers your questions.

All the best,

Dan Stradford

I notice that he doesn't mention that he is an OT8 (Freewinds
19 of April 1996), a subscriber to the now-defunct Scientologist-only
Itheta mailing list (and GetInComm too), and an IAS Patron.

Additionally, Safe Harbor is or was listed in "Club Theta's" business

And of course he had the obligatory spam page:
http://www.oursites.org/danstradford

It appears to be gone, but here's what used to be on it:

Name: Dan Stradford
URL: www.oursites.org/danstradford/index.htm
Picture: None
Myself:
Hello, my name is Dan Stradford, and here is a little bit about
myself: I'm a pretty regular guy. I like music (anything from
country to classical), fishing, and the great outdoors. My wife
Betty and I have two teenage girls, Sarah and Christy. We live
in the San Fernando Valley in Southern California in a rustic
area in the mountain foothills. I am president of a well-respected
corporation that services heating, ventilation, and air conditioning
systems all over Southern California. We are members of the local
Chamber of Commerce. I am a published writer of fiction and non-fiction.
I write nature pieces and various articles, including some for
trade magazines in my industry. I do occasional lectures on Scientology
at local Churches of Scientology.
Success:
I became a Scientologist when I was about 20 years old. At that
time, my life was a morass of confusion. I felt completely uncertain
about the future and my ability to deal with it. I doubted myself.
I questioned the moral beliefs I'd been brought up with, leaving
me to wonder whether good or evil wins in the end. I had been
raised in dire poverty and had seen the misery of failure in all
of its facets when I was growing up. I feared becoming part of
it. I feared the predictions of so-called "experts" that if I
was born of "inferior" parents, then my future would be guided
by these "defective " genes. I was intelligent and capable, but
these abilities seemed to get lost or misused in the upsets of
life. Sometimes I had a grip on things, and sometimes I felt swallowed
by life's sufferings. Then I discovered Scientology. One of the
first things I learned in Scientology was that Man - all men,
including me - are basically good and simply seeking to survive.
This truth was like a shaft of sunlight piercing the menacing
clouds over my life. I continued to study this remarkable technology
and apply it to myself and others. I took course after course,
advancing forward in Scientology on a road toward greater and
greater survival for myself and those around me. Today, after
twenty-plus years on this road, there are no clouds. They left
a long time ago. Now my life is like a huge sun on the morning
horizon, shimmering in anticipation of the day to come. Fear and
uncertainty no longer run my life. I do. I have a very successful
business. A wonderful marriage of more than 20 years. A rich family
life. Wealth. Friends I can trust. I have certainty in myself
and in my future. I live a life of decency that I am proud of.
I have a deep love for my fellow man and I feel joy every day.
I have achieved success beyond my dreams and have seen realms
I never knew existed. And each day I think about what a lucky
man I am. That I found Scientology those many years ago, that
I had enough courage to seek to make myself better. And daily
I wish for the people I meet that perhaps they, too, will someday
have the great fortune to travel this road, to have their sorrows
and burdens lifted, and to see their future as I see my own. I
could not wish for them anything better.

He is also in the WISE Directories for 1999 and 2001, as well as listed
under California for the year 1991.

Here is his entry in the 1999 directory:

I'm sure he's on the new www.supertheta.com list. Not sure if they've left
the membership list accessable since they're using real software for it this
time.

Dan Stradford is a Class 6 auditor and is OT 8, but to my knowledge
neither he or his wife have done the GAT of the BC or the OT levels.

He and his wife Betty are from St Louis, Missouri, she started the BC
about 15 years ago but she never went further than Level A. She
probably never intended to be an auditor. I was always under the
impression that she went on course just to get free student auditing.

She and Dan started a very successful company over 20 years ago
cleaning chimneys and grease exhaust systems for restaurants. The
company is located in Los Angeles and you can find it in the "Who,
What, Where" under "Action Duct Cleaning Company"

Dan was a orderly in a psychiatric ward prior to getting into
Scientology, maybe that is why he now runs Safe Harbor. But I suspect
that he 'harbors' the desire of winning the Freedom medal one of these
days. Dan and Betty are both Patrons.

Safe Harbor holds a annual dinner similar to that of CCHR to collect
money for the project and they are trying to make it a big deal and
they have it at a fancy hotel in LA. where they usually charge from
$100 to $500 dollars for a typical chicken dinner.

A couple years ago I heard he was trying to recruit Margo Kidder the
actress who played Louise Lane in "Superman", she was supposed to be
the 'celebrity guest speaker' at one of his events, but she never
showed up. His events are not successful at all. I guess
scientologists are getting tired of being constantly asked for money
for pet projects to PR the Church.

Dan also has hooked up with alot of alternative health nuts and
"nutritionists" One of them is a Scientologist named Dr. Anita Pepi.
She is one those typical scientology quacks who promises all kinds
of 'cures' through some herbs and vitamins that she sells at exhorbitant
prices.

Anita is married to Marty Livingston. She and Marty used to be on lines
at CC Int where they were constantly in ethics because she was an abused
wife. Marty was beating the daylights out of her until she was finally
ordered to separate while getting auditing. Marty was never declared
for that.

Not only that, Marty Livingston worked at CC Int when they were
renovating it and he was in charge of the crew as he is a contractor.
At the time he would hire illegal workers from El Salvador and Mexico
for cheaper salaries, and they were working up to 15 to 20 hrs a day,
I am not exagerating, and they were not being paid overtime as
required by the law.

Of course this did not bothered the Execs at CC Int or upper management,
on the contrary, having illegal workers was beneficial to them because
they didn't have to pay per the law. This went on for a very long time
until CC renos were done.

For some reason Flag thinks Marty's ethics are in despite his domestic
violence and avoidance of the law, because for some odd reason he was
allowed onto OT 7.

Anita and Marty bought a house several years ago in the Valley but
they lost it because of lack of payments to the bank and to the IRS.

beautiful. What did he tell me "I took some courses or once studied
scientology" and that Safe Harbor is NOT a scientology affiliate.

He may already won the "world class Liar" award.

Thanks...
