this and dozens of other passages and whole chapters speak to the mortality of un-redeemed
man, of which we all share in Adam unless the Lord God gives us life.

the idea that man is immortal comes from ancient Greek philosophy, not the Bible, and with
the help of the ever evolving dogma of Catholicism, has crept into the belief system of
Mr. Everyman who is not apt to discover what the Bible has to say about the grim subject
of death.

the starting point is Adam. since the sin of Adam is imputed to all mankind everyone goes
to the grave. the only exception being the few people whom God took to heaven without
seeing physical death. these are Enoch, Moses and Elijah at the least. the rest of
mankind thus far have all terminated in the grave where the unredeemed remain forever dead
and the believer's body awaits Christ's call to meet Him in the air at His return.

the body of the unredeemed return to dust and the spirit returns to God who gave it,
( Ecc. 12:7 ) while the elect return to dust and their spirit goes to be with the Lord.
2 Cor. 5:1-9

alienation from God takes place before birth and therefore He says... " The wicked are
estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. " ( Ps.
58:3; Ro. 9:10-13 ) this is death of the soul of man which concludes Paul to say more
than once... " you were dead in your trespasses and sins... " ( Eph. 2:1 ) since the
human body can not endure fire for but a moment it is plain to see that the Lake of Fire
is not so constructed so as to envelop man in his mortal body. it is a spiritual fire to
which man is already dead at birth according to Eph. 2:1 et al.

immortality is Platonism. man is entirely a mortal being unless the Living God gives him
life, otherwise... " His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; In that very day his
thoughts perish. " ( Ps. 146:4 ) they are not remembered by the Living God anymore ( Ps.
88:5 ) and have their reward of the wages of sin... which is death and not eternal life.
only the elect are given eternal life by the Living God.

to say that the unbeliever will be in conscience torment for all eternity is to say he has
eternal life. no such doctrine of Holy Scripture suggests such but again and again we
read that he is given death... the wages of sin is death, not eternal life. to burn in
hell forever as the pagan philosopher's say, you have had to be given eternal life.
the phrase eternal death is not in Holy Scripture; everlasting punishment is ( Mt. 25:46 )
and punishment is the carrying out of the sentence of death... the wages of sin... and not
eternal life.

the unbeliever is " excluded from the life of God " ( Eph. 4:18 ).. life is what you need
to live forever. the religious philosopher's distort this simple principle as they do all
of Scripture so that God is made out to be an unmerciful, uncompassionate tyrant throwing
unredeemed babies into fire forever.
