Jerusalem (ENI). The Israeli Government's refusal to renew visas
to Christian clergy in the Holy Land has precipitated a crisis
with the Vatican and the entire Christian world, say church
representatives. It is estimated that hundreds of priests, nuns
and Christian volunteers have not been granted permission to
remain in Israel. Israeli police now have the legal power to
arrest and deport all in this category, although so far no church
leader has reported that any staff have been forced to leave.
"It's a problem not only for the Catholic Church but for all
(Christian) denominations in the Holy Land," a spokesman for the
Apostolic Delegation, the Vatican's representatives in Jerusalem,
told ENI.

Well it is their government, they can do as they wish.
And 'their' Holy Land - Christians keep out.
BTW, did you know that it is illegal for a Jew who believes in Christ
to
enter
Israel.
Ref: What's Next: God, Israel, and the Future of Iraq by Charles H.
Dyer
No I did not know that, as I have some friend that are Jews and believe
in
Jesus, and go in and out as they like, even had to spend a few years in
the
Israeli army as required by law.
Then if you had this by the bible, I may take a look, by Dyer no way,
just
another book and another dollar..
Check out the book. I've never been to Israel. I only report what I
read.
Maybe you should check out the writer and then check with the Government of
Israel, or call them for a visa and get the real facts. Most writers have a
agenda and story telling doesn't hurt them at all, as someone group will buy
their book, and others will buy it to disprove it, in the end the writer
still gets paid, so doesn't really care what they write is true or not, as
long as it sells.
Well, Charles Dyer is a pretty good writer and somewhat pro-Israel. I think
what I read has more authenticity than what you say in your post. But, you did
provide good advice and if should ever I need to explore this further, I will
contact the Government of Israel. |

P> or is this some sort of harrassment by the Israelis.
It was a common practice in South Africa during the apartheid era. Clergy and
journalists were singled out for special treatment.
Reasons were not given, so one had to guess. One possible reason is that they
would be more likely to see things the government didn't want them to see, and
report them to people that the government would prefer did not know about them.
