Let Your Sins Be Strong:
A Letter From Luther to Melanchthon
Letter no. 501, 1 August 1521,
"Luther's Correspondence", Lutheran
Publication Society, Philadelphia, 1918, II, p.50
No sin can separate us from Him, even if we were to kill or commit
adultery
thousands of times each day. Do you think such an exalted Lamb paid
merely a
small price with a meager sacrifice for our sins?
Contrast that with the teaching of Mrs. White.
Christ's words are both explicit and comprehensive.
"Whosoever"--minister or layman, wise or ignorant--"shall break one of
these least commandments"--willfully or presumptuously, as did Adam and
Eve--is included in the condemnation. Breaking one of the commandments
makes man a commandment-breaker. {RH, September 27, 1881
par. 13}
EGW
**A man cannot continue in sin and be a Christian.** Christ
always separates the contrite soul from sin. Men may labor in
connection with the work of God as did Noah's carpenters,
and yet resist the divine influences.
{17MR 114.3}
Since Lamarr chose to turn away from the teachings Jesus - "
"...go and sin no more" one can easily understand why he prefers
Luther to Jesus and Mrs White.
"He that committeth sin is of the devil" Tell me Lamarr, do you
think that applies to liars?

pretend Rabbi harold - You continue to dredge up the same two quotes,
couldn't you have a better argument with yourself, if you used more?
I mean, "with the whole world watching" ! ?
Bwa, ha, ha. ha, ha
harold is on Mr. Toads wild ride tonight !
Stop harold, I can't take all the laughing, you are on a roll tonight !!
I bet you could get booked into vegas, think of it, up in lights
"The Perfect man, debates dead people !"
You could wear costumes, as Mrs. White, and Luther, and since you won't
acknowledge Christs resurrection, maybe him too !
Here is one that will fit right in, you could be Caiphas, condemn
yourself, then hang pretned rabbi harold on a cross !!!!
Then harold, the show patrons could walk by, and give you a tip, as the
sinless man.
You are one wild and crazy guy, before "the whole world ! " LE |

This seems to be a supremely ignorant comment regarding Christ's mercy

Do you think such an exalted Lamb paid so high a price to ALLOW US TO
CONTINUE TO SIN?!
I personally have no opinion regarding Luther, except that he was an
instrument of God to initiate the reformation. However, this particular
comment is repulsive to me.
Having said all this, when Christ said, "Go, and sin no more," He was
setting a standard that, if a sincere follower failed to follow
completely, Christ's perfection stood in their place and covered that
failure, just as though the person never sinned. I believe He was
realistic and knew that the adulterer was going to mess up, but that now
she would be heaven-focused, not sin-focused.
IN GOD'S EYES, a "saved" Christian IS perfect, even if in reality, that
person still stumbles/falls/etc... |

Sonny - You are absolutely right, you are speaking of Grace, a concept
that Luther deveveloped to its complete understanding.
Before Luther, it was a world more akin to Harolds reasoning, but not
quite.
You could go on a pilgrimage, or do penance, or even buy an indulgence
for salvation.
The test was NOT what Christ did for you, and the world, on the cross,
that was minimized, just as Harold minimizes it to the point he won't
even speak of it, the test was if whether The Spirit was in YOU, and YOU
did good things.
Jesus' life, death, atonement, and resurrection is minimized and
marginilized, the focus of you is not Christ, but you.
All Harold talks about are works, doing, doing, doing, and I have no
doubt he believes that HE is acceptable to God, when in truth, he is
corrupt and depraved and his pitiful efforts are offensive to God.
Harold won't save Harold, only Christs atonement can, and he ignores it.
You have the glorious hope of Christ standing in the judgement as your
substitute and surety, thanks to Luther.
Harold will stand for himself, and cannort, will not, stand very long.

It is repulsive to all who know God and believe his word.
