Elizabeth Pepper was the driving force behind the Witches’ Almanac
series, and the compilations and other offerings from the same
source. She displayed an uncommon ability to convey information of
all sorts in an entertaining manner. She assumed that her readers
were intelligent and capable of seeing connections without having to
be spoon-fed.

The Witches’ Almanac, Ltd. has been putting out high quality books for
well over a decade, and this is just the latest offering in an on-
going series. It is well produced, highly informative (and a good
value on top of all that). It may not rise to the level of a great
book, but it is well above average.

This is an expansion of Magic Charms from A to Z and is a welcome
addition to my library. Well over the first half of the book is an
alphabetical collection of stones, herbs, symbols and other
esoterica. It is by no means exhaustive (it is a little book), but it
draws from cultures world-wide, and presents the information in easily
understandable terms.

Moving beyond the basics the author moves into charts and
correspondences and finishes off with basic glossary. Each of these
sections provides a good, basic grounding in the topic under
discussion, and should enable the seeker to make sense of the
foundations of magickal workings. It is an excellent book and I most
definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good starter book.

No. This book, supposedly about magick, will do what all the
other drivel you read and comment on: It will help the reader
acquire the ability to play the role of a magician (witch,
necromancer,sorcerer, etc.) in a C fantasy flick or write
fantasy novels.
