Restored Gelati Academy Is Opened
Gelati Academy restores its original function. One of historical educational
and
cultural centers of Georgia is still active. Today, the Patriarch
consecrates
and blesses the opening of restored Gelati Academy.
After 18 months reconstructing works the Academy premise has totally been
renewed. The oldest wine cells and exhibition halls have been rehabilitated
there.
After conducting feasibility studies by Georgian and foreign experts there
is
drafted a project on rehabilitation of Gelati Monastery Complex. Gelati
academy
is rehabilitated in frames of national programme. The Academy is opened by
Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia and President of Georgia.
Today, lots of people gathered at Gelati. The Patriarch served a small
prayer.
Later, the Patriarch and the President observed ongoing implementation of
the
project on total rehabilitation of Gelati Monastery Complex.
