There is a new Baha'i fellowship now forming called the "Unitarian
Baha'i Fellowship". It will be associated with the Unitarian-
Universalist Association. There are UU churches throughout North
America; every metropolitan area with a population over 50,000.
The UBF will include gay and lesbian Baha'is in full fellowship, as
well as other Baha'is who have felt that the "Baha'i World
Faith" (Haifa Organization) is too restrictive, domineering,
fundamentalist, and not in keeping with the Baha'i spirit.
The UBF accepts both Abbas Effendi ('Abdu'l-Baha) and Muhammad
Effendi as equal teachers of the Faith, and both of their teachings
will be advanced in the UBF. The UBF has 15 principles, keeps the nine
holy days, use the standard prayers, and will have 19-Day Feasts; at
first to meet in the homes of other Unitarian Baha'is, but, as the
numbers grow, the Feasts will be held in UU churches.
Unitarian Baha'is will be asked to contribute to their local UU
church. The UBF will print its own books and, eventually, a
periodical.
The Unitarian Baha'i Fellowship will be in full fellowship with the
AGHSAN: the living blood descendants of Baha'u'llah who reside in the
Holy Land.
A website for the Unitarian Baha'i Fellowship is coming soon, and an
announcement will be made when it is online. |
