while the Gnostic's would not abide by the rules of the Synod of Dort and show from the
Bible their lofty claims of a different gospel espoused by them, and thereby left the
meeting, the Synod answered from the Bible their claims and put them in logical order...

this doctrine has been called T.U.L.I.P. which is an acronym standing for Total
Depravity; Unconditional Election; Limited Atonement; Irresistible Grace and Perseverance
of the Saints.

Irresistible Grace insists that since the Bible teaches man is wholly incapable of
desiring anything pleasing to God in his fallen state of Adam, the Lord God is pleased to
show forth His mercy to some, not to all of mankind, calling a people out from among the
sons of Adam to receive His special grace of life eternal in the bosom of Christ.

Irresistible Grace is nearly the same doctrine as Unconditional Election since both teach,
along with Holy Scripture, that someone outside of fallen man must redeem him if he is to
be saved at all.

man, having no power to redeem himself, or even desiring to be redeemed, if he knew what
that meant, must " wait upon the Lord " ( Ps. 123:2 ) since " Salvation belongs to the
Lord. " Ps. 3:8

Irresistible Grace declares that the desire to save along with the power to save resides
solely in God, and that man is entirely passive in the matter of redemption. the Apostle
Paul is a fine example of God changing the heart's of rebels. Lazarus, Christ's friend,
had no power in himself to come forth from the grave at the call of Christ which is
another fine example of the grace, mercy and power in God Almighty to bring up the dead
and give them life.

since " none can stay His hand " ( Dan. 4:35 ) and since it is hypocritical to pray " Thy
will be done on earth... " and suppose for a moment that man wills himself into life, it
is simply recognized that because man is dead in sin wholly incapable of saving himself,
that the Lord God in Christ will not be put to shame by failing to save those whom He's
written in the Lamb's Book of Life.

the Gnostic's insist on a Savior who is blocked by the will of man who doesn't want to be
saved saying... " God is a Gentleman and doesn't force Himself on anyone to accept Jesus
as his Lord. " this idea relates nowhere in the Bible to any attribute of the Almighty.
God does what He desires and none can resist Him. ( Dan. 4:35; Ps.135:6 ) when the Savior
comes to redeem one of His elect, he come's willing because the God of the Living gave him
life.

the starting point is that man is dead in sin and first, must be given life by the Living
God ( Acts 13:48; Jn. 3:3 ) he is drawn to Christ in the instant he is given life and
such is called Irresistible Grace. because there is nothing in man invoking God to elect
him since salvation is entirely of God, no pre-condition or pre-conditions are filled by
man to accomplish the salvation He Himself provides.

the sin of that man is paid for by Jesus Christ who stood in his place. he was elected for
the glory of God and not his own glory, therefore the elect are elect only because God has
so raised him from the dead.

the stance of the Gnostic's is that Christ failed at Calvary because they teach He hasn't
got the power to redeem unless man gives Him permission.... here enter's co-redemption...
man assisting God in redemption by the surrender of his obstinate will or his performance
in ceremonies... his personal achievements are offered as the means to redemption.

there were four prophets of the OT saved as fetuses; Jacob, David, Jeremiah and John the
Baptist. there was no mention of ceremonies saving them nor decision making on their part
so as to assist a powerless God. the facts in the matter are that the Bible teaches man
is dead in sin wholly incapable of delivering himself from the bondage of sin and death.
the grace of God, the power of God, brings to Himself all those who's names He's written
in the Lamb's Book of Life. Life, is what the dead do not have.
