AND it is my honest and expert opinion that public Druidry, Paganism
and Wicca, Celtic Reconstructionism etc are all in the doldrums in
Ireland over the past several years. Outside of Stonehenge annually, I
gather that the situation is similar , though not as bad, in England.
And from the USA you do not hear as much from ADF, Henge, or any of
the Principals, and the books are staying on the shelves in the
bookshops. This is not a time for anybody starting up a business in
Druidism or whatever - the Recession alone will see to that ! I have
remarked this before. What to do now ? I am still administering
Ireland as AD Ireland, that's my duty and rersponsibility. Perhaps go
out and help the NO side win the Lisbon referendum mark 11 . Maybe
write a book - in anything except Druidism, they don't sell at
present. I don't know. But what I do know is that the great interest
in Druidry through the 90's and for parts of the 2000's is gone, or at
least it's gone for now . It's Over .

You bring up a good point sir, although various ecclectic sects of
what might loosely be called "Wicca" seem to have grown over the past
decade, I think we may have seen the peak and are now experiencing the
decline of Pagan religions that honor the gods and goddesses of pre-
Christian Europe. Part of this may be due to the economy, but I think
a larger part of it is that people are rapidly loosing interest in
their own ethnic identity - especially in a world where a growing
percentage of the population has no specific ethnic identity due to
being of multi-ethnic or multi-racial descent. Druidism is a very
ethno-specific faith, being appropriate to the most rapidly declining
portion of Europe's population. The Gael and the Cimbrian have bleak
futures as they face ultimate extinction in the Orwellian world of
racial and ethnic ambiguity, where our children and grandchildren have
been reduced to raceless, classless pawns who serve as mere cogs in
the machinery of those whose designs they fulfill.

Von Braun lived in Huntsville and put it on the map. He was one of its
most famous citizens. That makes him "from" Alabama.

As to George Wallace, he reflected the views of the majority of
Alabamians when he was elected and served as Governor of the state. He
also moderated his views on race later in life. His main stance
against the Kennedys and the admission of Blacks to the University of
Alabama was a defense of states' rights though it obviously supported
the (then) racist views of the people.

I did not support racism then or now but I hated that the Federal
government could come to Alabama and force its Governor to yield to it.

There should be a better way
than force and loss of freedom/rights (yet of course there should also
be equal rights for all citizens). As to George Wallace being a "noble
patriot hero" he was a great American and I'm proud of the things he
did for Alabama and the country in spite of his (then) racism.

I haven't a clue as to whether he is related to William Wallace or
not.
