AP Sources: 1 rampage gun purchased legally
By LARA JAKES and DEVLIN BARRETT (AP) – 1 hour ago
WASHINGTON —
Law enforcement officials say a 5.7-millimeter pistol used in the Fort
Hood shooting rampage was purchased legally at a Texas gun store.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not
authorized to discuss the case.
Records indicate Hasan bought the FN 5.7 at store called "Guns Galore"
in Killeen, Texas, well before the attack that left 13 people dead.
The pistol has been dubbed a "cop killer" by those who have tried to
stop its use.
The most powerful type of ammunition for the gun is available only to
law enforcement and military personnel.
Gun control advocates call it a "cop killer" weapon because that ammo
can pierce bulletproof vests, and its use by Mexican drug cartels
worries police.

That makes more sense. The five-7 has a 20 round magazine which would
help explain how many bodies got piled up.. and the wounded to dead
ratio.
My personal favorite is the venerable colt .45 which has many fewer
rounds but is more deadly.
But I don't use the .45 to shoot mass amounts of people.. I suppose the
five-7 would be a good choice for a rampage. But I doubt he chose it
because it would pierce bulletproof vests -- more likely the high
capacity. They are also supposed to be nice shooters and accurate.
*shrug*
Any number of guns could have done the job. Its a nutbag not about the
weapon. |

Wonder how many thousand of others have purchased a "cop killer"

How many other firearm models do the gun control advocates label as
"cop killers?"

And since Malik Nadal Hasan was military personnel, what point are you
trying to make?

Mexican drug cartels also use grenades, dynamite, and rocket launchers
- none of which are available for sale at Texas gun shops. And the
biggest drug cartel in Mexico is the Mexican 'government,' which the
U.S. government supplies even deadlier weapons to. |
