BLOOMBERG HAS PARK MUSICIANS TICKETED!
In line with Billionaire Bloomberg's history of generating income by taxing
and ticketing those that can least afford it, musicians playing in Central
Park's Strawberry Fields have been issued summonses with fines ranging from
$50 to $200 for the "crime" of playing peaceful music!
Fifty or even $200 is penny-ante to the likes of Billionaire Bloomberg, who
has spent $65 MILLION on his campaign to date, but it is a sum most
musicians find burdensome and an unreasonable penalty for their harmless
conduct.
Though Strawberry Fields is dedicated to the memory of musical genius John
Lennon, it has been designated as a "quiet zone" in which musical
instruments are banned. This despite the fact that it is appropriate, in
John Lennon's honor, that the joy of music at a reasonable volume level be
heard there. Beatles songs are the most often played, on acoustic
instruments that cannot be heard at a distance. The "Imagine" mosaic at the
center of Strawberry Fields is a top NYC tourist attraction.
