Sarah Palin has the only thing necessary to be president: appearance.
Americans don't care about ideology or issues, they care about
appearance.

John McCain lost not because he chose Sarah Palin as his running mate,
but because he was bald. Americans hate balk politicians, which is why
almost all of our presidents - no matter how elderly - have had heads
full of big poofy plasticized hair.

Barack Obama ran on a platform of image, looking suave and sophisticated
as he babbled away about nothing. Sarah's Palin has the necessary
image, but makes the mistake of trying to articulate actual ideas,
instead of just quacking empty yet hypnotic nonsense like Obama.

I'll admit it will be hard for Palin to win in a run against Obama, but
she can do it if she works on her hypnosis skills, and maybe 'leak' some
nude photos to the tabloids She would do best to follow Obama's example

When a demagogue emits a blindingly stupid statement, it comes with a
built-in half-life.

Sometimes a statement must last, say, half a year, before alternatives
soak thru the believers' hard skulls. Then the statement is carefully
crafted, and delivered slowly. And the details are all reasonable, or
short hops from reality. Such as "Palin is a good campaigner". Blah blah
blah. That should last a few years.

But when you have an emergency coming in the next couple weeks, such as
an election, or a vote on health care reform, then you must push up your
message's shock power, and ridiculousness. Your message can have a very
short half-life, because the rest of the media won't have time to debunk
it.

So this is why the October Surprise is such a mainstay of American
politics. This time of year, for example, Al Qaeda would vote for Bush
by releasing a threatening video. A week early and the video won't work
as well.

So that's why, just this week, we are hearing the most ridiculous tripe
from the wingnuts. Palin's half of the GOP will defeat the Grey Party
half. Obama is dropping in the polls. The HMO lobby is secretly behind
reform efforts. Republicans are set to wipe Democrats off the map - in
small redneck enclaves here and there.

Assuming Obama is reelected in the next election, he cannot run again in 2016.
It will be some other Democrat's, or a Green's, turn.
