NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- The Nebraska State Patrol said a trooper who stopped a
sport utility vehicle for speeding found 15 pounds of crystal
methamphetamine hidden inside.
Officials said a patrol airplane spotted the speeding SUV on Interstate 80
in western Nebraska on Monday afternoon. The patrol said a trooper stopped
the eastbound vehicle and received permission to search it.
The patrol said the meth was found in several packages in a hidden
compartment under the rear seats of the SUV. Authorities said the drug has
an estimated street value of $300,000.
The driver, 58-year-old Jose Buenrostro of Pomona, Calif., and a passenger,
39-year-old Luis Alfonso Trejo Diaz of Ontario, Calif., were arrested on
suspicion of possession with intent to deliver. |
