Me thinks this is an oxymoron. Too bad the foundation will need to
refund the high bidder.

Are you sure it's not that people are paying for the chance to teach
Lar$?

Meh - jibes aside I think that`s a pretty cool prize...I`ve actually warmed
to Lars considerably over recent years. I think he`s fallen back out of his
own ass again lately and seems a likeable sort again.

Lar$ was for the main more like an over-excited puppy that would just
pee everywhere, annoying but harmless.

Money changed them all and their music. However if someone wants to
give me a huge bundle of cash to see if it changes me, then I'll be a
willing volunteer for the experiment.

The jibes are not about what an asshole he is (who cares?), but how
much he sucks :)

He all but admits himself that he`s no great shakes technically...but he`s
written some of my favourite songs ( albeit a long time ago! ) so I`m not
going to complain. I love early Venom, Sodom and Kreator whilst Dream
Theater and Yngwie Malmsteen largely bore me so technical ability isn`t high
on my agenda!

Sometimes it can help. I'll take Dio over Ozzy any day of the week.
Technically superior by far.

Luckily I like early Sodom, Kreator, Dream Theater and at least one
album by Yngwie (one is enough). Venom are okay, but I could never
get overly excited about them. I don't have rose-tinted glasses when
it comes to them.

History has accorded them their dues IMO. I`ve liked them since I was about
13 years old...which may have been a good time to hear them I guess! As far
as I can remember I was into Venom before hearing any thrash stuff.

I just don't get the "greatest drummer in rock". There are so many

average drummers that are far better than he is.
I recall one guy (not a kid) who was a drummer wishing Lars would do a
drum solo....really?????

I'm not a stickler for technicality either, but c'mon ... in a thread
talking about drum lessons?
