I have, and do, go back and forth from Legere' Studio Cut reeds and
Rico Jazz Selects. I'm not particularly lazy but I have to admit the
ease and convenience, not to mention the longevity, of Legere' reeds
is very attractive. Also, my teacher says I sound better on the
Legere's.
On all the criteria: sound, response, feel, articulation, what does
one offer over the other. I tend to like medium large openings (7* or
and medium soft reeds (2 or 2.5) for my best sound. I like a smooth
and centered sound with just a hint of buzz to project. Those who play
Dukoff laser blasters might not like the sound of these or other
synthetics.
What say you?

The best synthetic reed for me is the Legere Studio followed by
Fibracell. Natural cane I prefer plan old Rico Royal. I like to get a
reed and play it right out of the box, I don't see the profit in
spending hours prepping a reed in the hope that I might get one out of
ten to play.

I'm a beginner on tenor. I started out with Rico #2, but found them to
be inconsistent. My teacher suggested Vandoren, and then after playing
for only four months, I stepped up to a #3 reed for for bigger sound. It
was a much more difficult step than I had anticipated, and I had trouble in
supporting the air stream required.
A while ago, I sat in at a big band rehearsal (just to read, not to play)
One of the tenor players was using Legere Studio Cut, and he suggested
I give one a try. I bought #2 3/4. I found it much easier to blow than a
cane #3, and I could get the lower notes (Eb downwards) with relative
ease.
The convenience of being able to blow a dry reed, and also its
longevity and consistent quality seem to me to be great advantages
I made some recordings of both a cane and synthetic read. The
Legere is just a little brighter, and gives the same volume. I like the
sound.
