flac file probably mono as is the source

Ravel-Bolero
Ernest Ansermet
Suisse Romande
1960 live

NOT the 1963 Studio recording

In the late 20s Ravel chose Ansermet to premiere his new work as did
Stravinsky Prokofiev, Briiten, de Falla etc.

BUTTTT- at the last minute the French authorities realized that
Ansermet was NOT French, but Swiss. So he was replaced. Ravel freaked.
The replacement was not competent to play it the way he wanted it.
Ravel said that now it will go wrong for prosperity.

Here it is correct.

Featuring the Ansermet Method of Wind Playing. Winds heavily modified
French, Brass heavily modified Viennese, to take advantage of the good
things of those schools and elimination of the bad. It's about
putting air into the tube, baby!!!

The Bassoon is the French instrument. But Henri Helaerts does not play
it in the French manner.

Even the saxes are superb. No mooing vibrato or constipated air flow.
The Ansermet Method does not allow vibrato (even in the strings) as
Musical expression is defined by the weight of the attack and the
sonorous value of every voice.

Enjoy
