Jackson Browne
Bonnie Raitt

My first time seeing these two greats, in one of my favorite venues.
Both still touring today, 35 years down the road, in fact a friend just saw
Bonnie at the Oakland Paramount last week, said she was still as good as
ever.

to after STANDIN thru that BORIN bruce show from last week. all the
old numbers done up in a VERY UNINSPIRIN manner. more some sort of
JERSEY PEP RALLY than
a music concert. and that SIGN SCHTICK now goes on an on.

he's solo acoustic for his upcoming dates-just wrapped up a year or so
with the band.

Burt-there are bootlegs of those two under the title "Bonnie and
Clyde" (that's Browne's first name). What a great musical pair.

Performing together? I don't remember if they did when I saw them, to tell
you the truth. Sounds cool though.

Speaking of JB bootlegs, Susan, I have one of Jackson and David Lindley,
mostly just the two of them on stage, called "For Everyfan Rides Again".
It's a 7-disc compilation, mostly "duo acoustic". Some real gems on here,
including them doing Lindley's wonderful "Tiki Torches at Twilight", and
quite a few Warren Zevon tunes before anyone knew who Warren was. Also lots
of stories by JB telling why he wrote particular songs. Not to mention much
goofiness by Lindley.
I always think of you when I hear it --- what with Jackson playing Zevon
songs and all. Want a copy?

They've shared the stage with each other a lot over the years, mostly
at special events/benefits, like the Christic Shows (where they did
Highway 61 and Across the Borderline with Bruce), or in the 90's at
Red Rocks (a show that I still kick myself severely in the ass for
missing), where they were on stage together at various times with
Bruce Hornsby, David Lindley, and Shawn Colvin.

thanks for thinking (and bothering) to offer it Burt! (dasm, I miss
trading bootlegs), but I'm thinking I have most of those 7 discs. The
JB covering WZ sounds like a boot from Bryn Mawr (PA), where Browne
spells Zevon's name, talks about his "periods, like Picasso had his
Blue Period. This was Warren's bizerko period" (or something like
that?)

I'm with musicaner on JB-I'd much rather see him with his band
nowadays, which I've been fortunate to see 3 times in the last year-
twice in Denver. Unlike SOME musicians discussed over there >>>>>>>>>
(lol), Browne makes Denver a regular stop on his tours, and doesn't
cost me $400/show to see him somewhere on the East coast/midwest.

I love that early Browne stuff tho-solo, or with band. He's never
been the "showman" that some musicians are, but he's always connected
with his audience in authentic ways.

Yeah, that's the same stuff. Actually the Zevon material is from several
shows, but I figured you already had most of this.

I think Jackson would be worth seeing in any format. I actually might even
prefer solo.

"i seen him solo and i PREFER BAND, i have to think about it, 2 hrs of
him and his guitar or piano may be a pit too much."

A pit too far!
Both times I saw him, it was with band, including Mr. Lindley. So I'd dig
solo. But being that it's been 34 years since I've seen him (2nd time was in
'75), if the price is right, I'll catch him in any format if he hits the Bay
Area. Neither one of us is getting any younger ...

Did you ever think it'd be a consensus opinion that Bruce should take a
break from touring? Amazing, but I totally agree, and think many many
others might as well.

I'd like to see him go on touring, just as long as it's not with the ESB. I
can't imagine anything he could do with that set-up now that would perk my
interest.

For me it's the other way around. If the E Street Band of Steven, Garry,
Roy & Max were playing close by I'd go see 'em. But once you add Bruce and
that cast of thousands and I pass. It's the BOOM BOOM factor, caint abide.
