Last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, he told the following
joke......Next week, the Beatles rock band video game is released.
Now, you can pretend to be the Beatles and pretend to play their
instruments....just like the Monkees.

I'm sick of these Monkees jokes. He doesn't know what he's talking
about.

One of our local breakfast TV shows had a bit on the Monkees last week. The
host said his favourite was "Daydream Believer... written by Neil Diamond".
Then when a clip of Mike came on playing "Listen to the Band" he said "we
don't want to see that" and cut it off.
I already knew he was a moron and a completely crap host long before that
though!

At least the joke is sorta funny, even if you know it's not true :-)

I've heard certain DJs make the same mistake about "Daydream Believer"
being "written" by Neil Diamond. I've never heard a morning breakfast
TV talk show host make that mistake since I'm never up that early but
I suppose it's possible, given the number of others I've heard making
the mistake. As for cutting the film clip of Nez playing "Listen to
the Band," could that have been because of being pressed for time? Or
was there enough time to play the song all the way through? On David
Letterman's show, his musical guests can be playing a song and the
show will cut away for the commercials. I wish they wouldn't do
that.

Bugs me that they get paid good money to be morons though. I must admit I
only saw it by accident since I would never sit and watch any of those
shows. I just had the TV on while doing other things. I'm sure most people
probably do the same at that time.

Nope, he made his distaste quite obvious, (I think the words were "we don't
want to hear that country stuff", and he continued talking afterwards.

No, they didn't play anything all the way through, and I wouldn't expect
that since they showed a few different clips.

Agreed, but at least it's usually at the end of the song, not the very
beginning.

I thought Fallon's joke was amusing. (I am a Monkees fan from way
back. 1966 to be precise). I'm glad I read it and did not hear him
deliver it. Haven't listened to him lately, but in his first few weeks
on the job, it seemed like he was rushing through his monologue. Like
he was too nervous up there and couldn't wait to finish it. I would
listen to his jokes and could hear the humor in them, but he wasn't
delivering it like I thought he should.
