I could put up with him to hear the other two. I might go see the film

It was interesting on several levels.
Edge's high-tech, no-solos style was partially a reaction to Jimmy's
self-indulgence. White's primitivist style was partially a reaction
to Edge's high-tech, effects-laden approach.
They easily could have hated each other. Yet each was a fan of the
others.
Yes, Jimmy's most innovative and consequential work was largely over
before U2's first album, and before White was born. That's a shame,
but it's the truth. |
