I recently acquired a boot CD of Led Zeppelin studio recordings
(outtakes, demos, etc.) called "Musical Gravities", and although it
sounds great, it seems that at least a few, and possibly even all, of
its 14 tracks run slightly too fast. I'm sure that at least its first
2 tracks, "Four Sticks" & "Black Dog" from Led Zep's 4th album, both
run slightly too fast, but I'm not sure about the other 12 tracks that
follow - some of them sound as if they're probably just a little too
fast, while others sound as if they're probably just about at the
right speed.
So does anyone possibly know which tracks are definitely slightly too
fast and how much they need to be speed-corrected (increased in
speed)? If not, then does anyone possibly know of any particular
message boards or forums on the 'Net where I can probably find the
right answers? Any efforts to help will be well-appreciated - thanks. |

Sorry - my error, as I actually meant to say *decreased* in speed. |

how do you know they're too slow? You timed them? Or you cue'd up your
guitar to them and they're all flat? |

I said slightly too fast - not too slow. I'm certain that at least
the first 2 tracks are slightly too fast just by the way they sound to
my ears - it's especially noticeable on the vocals, as Robert Plant's
voice sounds a little higher-pitched than usual. As for the other 12
tracks that follow, I'm not sure, and that's why I'm asking for help
for anyone who might be more knowledegable. |

then why did you say this up above, your second post?
"Sorry - my error, as I actually meant to say *decreased* in speed."
are these bootlegs of legit studio performances that were actually released
by the band, and are commercially available, or are these concert
recordings, or are they studio outtakes/alternate takes? |

If you refer back to exactly what I said, when I said "decreased in
speed", I was referring to what *should* be done to them, or what
needs to be done to them, in order to correct them so that they become
at the right speed.
The boot CD is of studio outtakes, demos, alternate takes, etc. |

the only thing i can think of you might try is ripping said CD into audio
files like .wavs or .mpgs and then open up each one into an audio editor
and see if theres a tempo changer built in.
goldwave might have it, dont know
most of the free download cheap things cant do that, you have to get into
one of the more expensive packages like Cubase, Sonar, ProTools, like that |
