Hey everyone,
I think as of July 15, A T&T is dropping the alt.newsgroups. Since I
still have access through a phone line, I'm assuming I'll no loner be
able to visit here.
Just wanted to say it's been great to meet everyone here and read all
the comments about Leonard. I've made some good friends here.
Would getting a laptop enable me to continue access here?

Hello Tom. You know, I expect, that you can always get to usenet via Google.
Just go to the top of the Google start page and you will see 'Web - Images -
Videos - Maps - News - Shopping - Gmail - more' in blue hyperlink writing.
Click on 'more' and you will get a drop-down menu giving several more
categories. If you then click on 'Groups' you should then enter an area with
potential for accessing the usenet domain. It's not as user-friendly as the
old fashioned 'normal' way, but after one gets used to it things get easier.
Otherwise, if you want to continue as you are now, you simply need to
subscribe to an additional news server. Instructions for doing this can be
obtained from various places on the net. Good luck. Geoffrey. |

I forget, but I think you're in Arizona, aren't you, Dar?
It's been cooler this summer here in Baltimore, and was very rainy until
the last couple weeks. Hence, there are more insects than usual.

You'll be fine with Google groups, as Snow said. It's much more clumsy
than the old alt.newsgroup format, and to that extent discourages
posting a bit, but what the hey -- gets us out of the lurkatory every
once in a while. Some fine folk in here.
