Digital hand held recording devices...

One of my groups had a discussion on these but I do not remember which one
Any siggestions?

I've used a number of them... many are waaay overpriced, once you try the
Zoom H4 or the newer H2. They're less expensive, easier to use, and are
priced around half what the others are. The best part is, they sound nicer
than the others, too. Actually, it's not a huge amount nicer, but a bit
better is good, especially for the money. They may not be as tough for
newsgathering purposes, but hey, if you're not on the ground in Fallujah,
it's not an issue. My band has used one at rehearsals for the last 2 years,
and it even goes to bluegrass festivals with us, and it's still working and
looking like new.
