As some of you know (from a previous post) that my wife and I got to meet
Alice after the show here in Columbus last September. As my wife is disabled
she would listen to Alice on his radio show at night to keep her company
when I had to work second shift. She was very proud of the photo we took of
Alice and us.
On March 2nd she passed away at OSU Hospital. She was being tested for her
epilepsy and died from a stroke while in a drug induced coma to calm her
seizure activity.
At her funeral her family and I made a collage of pictures of her life and
her Mom and Dad made sure that the pic of us with Alice was prominently
displayed because she was so proud of it.

Dear DF,
I can not tell you how sorry I am to hear about your wife. I remember
reading about your encounter and meet. You gave such detail, it was
apparent that it was a very special event for the both of you. Such a
loss. Be assured that I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks Jeff. I just felt a need to let everyone know. This group and Alice
fans in general are the best.
The first time I took my wife to see Alice was the R&R Carnival show at
Buckeye Lake. There were times that Holly and I were close to the stage and
a whole group of fans surrounded us to keep her safe from people pushing and
stage diving. It rained that night and the ground was soaked and some fans
helped us get her wheelchair unstuck a couple of times.
Then there was the Eyes of Alice tour in '05 at the Ohio State Fair. Ryan
kept trying to throw Holly picks but the distance of the ADA seating was
such that we kept missing picks. After the show Ryan told security to hand
Holly a handful of picks. Also a couple of fans got her a dollar bill some
confetti and a burst balloon for her as souvenirs.
At her funeral one friend from Akron and one who flew in from Atlanta told
me that they want to come to Columbus to see a show. After Sickthings told
of the August 1st date with BOC I emailed them and that it the show we are
going to see. I will probably make the pic of Alice Holly and I into a
T-Shirt to wear that night. :-)
