The Washington Post Magazine has a feature called "Editor's Choice,"
in which people are asked to write in about an experience that means a
certain description, and they print the best reply they receive.
Today's subject was "Tell us about a time when a song lyric came
vividly alive for you." As you can read at
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/11/14/AR2006111400977.html
, the story involved "The Water is Wide." I don't think the writer
realized what an old song it is (she describes it as a Van Morrison
song). It has to be one of the best songs to sing when you're feeling
sorry for yourself.
