Hi all,
I'm new to the group, so I hope this hasn't already been discussed to
death (couldn't find much from a Google search).
What I'm interested in are your recommendations for a compilation of
Eagles members' solo tracks which most closely resemble their work with
the band - particularly in the early years.
A bit more detail: I'm a big fan of the Bernie Leadon lineup(s), much
less so of the later period with Joe Walsh and Tim Schmitt (I love
Joe's solo stuff and Tim in Poco, but not in the Eagles).
So what I'm after is tracks from the solo albums by Henley, Frey,
Leadon and Meisner, that sound similar to the "country-rock"-ier end of
the Eagles sound on the first four or five albums - I'm less keen on
the funkier/r'n'b stuff that Henley and Frey got into, whereas I love
songs like "Part Of Me, Part Of You" (from Thelma And Louise), because
it has that First Album acoustic/electric feel. Apart from that
soundtrack, and Henley's first solo, I'm pretty unfamiliar with any of
their individual (or collaborative) albums.
So, over to you guys - suggestions for a compilation CD ?
