I found the following to be just as funny as can be...it's the
"legendary" YES...and they are spending *three whole days* to prepare
for the European Tour.

Too fucking funny.

Yes, legendary brittish art-rock band YES starts at the end of
October, exactly 29.10., the new world tour in hall of Palacky
University in OLOMOUC! YES will be a headliner of this year´s 2.nd

Considering that the band are well in the groove after the recent tour
with Asia I'd suggest that three days is quite enough for
acclimatisation and some decent practise time.

But thanks for your thoughts on the matter.

Yep, because we all know that Yes always *fully rehearses* its live
show before going on tour, as numerous live recordings from previous
tours (especially 2000 and 2004) indicate...

I'm like you...only older...and yeah, things I've done over and
again...it's just like riding a bike. Of course most of what I do
doesn't involve a lot of playing in time with others. It does involve
coordination with others, but that's not at all the same thing.

There's a reason why sports teams practice constantly and why dancers,
actors and musicians rehearse. They look to be sure they've got it
right *as a unit*, when the lights go on. Yes has a history of kind
of preparing as they go...the first few shows of a tour, being the
rehearsal shows. A "won't work unless I'm getting paid right now"
kind of attitude.

This "Yes" clearly had some performance issues on previous outings.
One should think they'd be fully in to get it nailed down...and so
they were, for *three whole days*.

Brilliant stuff, really.

We know Howe, Squire and O. Wakeman got together some weeks ago, and
all the band members practice alone before the band as a whole meets
up, so this "3 days" stuff is misleading at best.

not quite so misleading as this "legendary brittish art-rock band
YES", but hey, I'm sure that little presser wasn't put up by the band
anyway.

It is good news that they take the time to practice alone...imagine
how the first show might sound if they didn't.

I wonder if this could get any funnier.

At least with Drama, they put out a new album (telling people is
another issue). I can close my eyes and listen in my living room I
suppose and pretend they are all there, but that would be weird. I'd
just like to see one more album with Jon and Rick and maybe a short
tour and then they hang it up and retire Yes with dignity and do their
Christmas albums or Squires solo album that had been 35 years in the
making...or whatever..

Now, an Anderson/Wakeman show I would go to. That's an album I would
buy too. I doubt I would buy an album from this version of Yes out of
pure principle

Geez, that would be ironic

volume of music festival Rock Olomouc! Famous band will come to
Olomouc three days earlier to prepare the whole tour there. Olomouc
can look forward to see a concert of the year!

Considering that the band are well in the groove after the recent tour
with Asia I'd suggest that three days is quite enough for
acclimatisation and some decent practise time.

apparently they think like you.

Please note that the funny part is that they took any time at all to
prepare for the tour.

Oh, I thought the funny was that that quote appears to be from the
begining of September?

er...that part is *hilarious*, I'm sure.

But thanks for your thoughts on the matter.

that thanks doesn't sound very sincere, Paul.

Geez. Tough room. Would it have sounded any more sincere if I'd
capitalized that statement Rob?

I'm not sure that would have helped at all...no.

I dont know. I'm 50. For the stuff I've been doing over and over and
over again for 40 years, I usually don't need 3 days to
prepare....

It's not like they are doing anything new, a statement in
itself.

waitaminnit...I'm pretty sure they put _one_ different song in the
set...so they really are stretching for the European Tour!

It probably takes takes them 3 days to change strings now days
anyway

their techs should be able to do that in their sleep.

But still, I won't see them w/o Anderson

as I understand it, all you have to do is _close your eyes_.

I think any chance of retiring Yes with dignity has been wiped out
with this tribute routine.

Quote:
Now, an Anderson/Wakeman show I would go to.

I wouldn't travel very far to see that, but think it would be good for
them do something again.

Quote:
That's an album I would
buy too.

yep, that would be an auto-buy for me.

Quote:
I doubt I would buy an album from this version of Yes out of
pure principle

Geez, that would be ironic

I'm also inclined not to give at least the HS duo any more of my
money. Howe took it for granted and put in limited effort for the
last number of records and tours, while Squire just squanders the
money away. Of course there's also the issue that I don't believe
they can generate product that would capture my interest.

But all that aside, it looks like the European Tour has started off
like so many recent Yes and "Yes" tours...some reviewers are not real
happy and a guy at the third show of the tour calls it an "uninspired
rehearsal".

Not good.
