Bornholm - March for Glory and Revenge - I`m quite impressed with this,
black metal with the right amount of melody and variation with a few
atmospheric brass sections ala Sear Bliss.
Blut Aus Nord - Memoria II - enjoying this as well, time to delve into their
back catalogue again...
Immortal - All Shal Fall
Megadeth - Endgame
Slayer - World Painted Blood - easily my favourite 3 albums of recent months
Belphegor - Walpurgis - finally got round to hearing this and as usual with
Belpheogr it doesn`t disappoint
Obituary - Darkest Day - thought I`d give this another go, still
under-whelmed, just another Obituary album really. Good when it goes fast,
dull when it slows down.
Nile - Those Whom the Gods Detest - continuing to surprisingly impress me
Enslaved - Ruun and Isa
Helloween - Better Than Raw
Destruction - Release from Agony
Voivod - RRROOOAAARRR
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Cryptic Wintermoon - Of Shadows - harmlessly dull
Persefone - Shin-ken - frustratingly average. Melodeath with some great
guitaring and progressive elements spoiled by occasional sing song choruses,
the odd clean vocal and tiresome ballad.
Rammstein - new album, forget the name - not my cup of tea, lasted three
songs
Cor Scorpii - Monument - how did I miss this last year? Ex Windir members,
excellent and in a similar vein
Morbid Angel - Covenant
Hypocrisy - A Taste of Extreme Divinity |

I`ll give the Gorgoroth another spin in due course, I`m in quite a black
metal mood at the moment so it`s in with a chance. Insomnium are still just
OK to me.

Actually, after a further couple of listens I have to say it`s weaker than
previous albums but still enjoyable.

Yeah, that`s how I felt about Nile after the last album came out. I expected
little from this but it`s hitting an un-expected spot with me.

I thought the Ex member were in Vreid?
One guitar player and the keyboard player formed Cor Scorpii, the other
guitar player and bassist formed Vreid. The drummer was with both bands
originally but eventually just stuck with Vreid. This Cor Scorpii has much
more in common with Windir than Vreid does.
