You can't blame Davy's wife for his badmouthing of the other Monkees.

Sure I can.  I just did.

Unfortunately, those of us who have been following Davy's bitter
diatribes for years know you can't blame it on the new Mrs.
Davy's not one for being diplomatic. He says what's exactly on his
mind and doesn't seem to mind or care if it makes others mad. But,
such outspokeness can come with a cost. You've got to expect that
others will avoid you because they don't want to hear your rants,
especially if they're one of the ones you're ranting against.

Quote:
Yeah, but the head up the arse bit?  That's outrageous, even for the
little guy.  And to direct it at Nez, with whom he has had very little
contact is completely out of character.

Behind the scenes, who knows? Davy could've tried talking to Mike but
Mike wasn't in the mood to talk to or listen to him. Or Davy's still
bitter about all the millions he thought the Monkees could've made in
the 90s with Nez on board. Davy's comment about Mike having his "head
up his arse," I think is completely in character for him. The others
seem to have let go of the past. Davy holds on to the past and to the
anger, though it doesn't do him a bit of good.

Quote:
Yes.  He might be feeling trapped.

I think it all comes down to money.

Quote:
I think his Twitter...  Not articles, per se, but commentary.

Hmm, hadn't noticed. But, then, I've been busy with other things in
the real world and haven't had time to check out Twitter lately, even
though I have an account. But, I'll take another look and see if the
comments are still on there.

Davy would've enjoyed being part of the Monkees forever, I think it
pisses him off that the others didn't share his enthusiasm for the
project. To keep lashing out at the others, though, is pointless.
They're all good guys, but they were not an organic band, and therein
lies the problem. The Beatles formed a bond years before they were
famous to any degree.

And they still broke up and never really got back together.
(OK a bit hard after John died, but could have done it as a threesome like
the Monkees did when Mike wasn't interested)

And the Monkees *did* get back together how many times now?
Seems to me they've been able to keep the group touring over the years,
while still being able to do their own thing, far better than many regular
groups of the era. With a few notable exceptions of course, like the
Rolling
Stones for example. :-)

You can always tell the Rolling Stones tour bus on the interstate... its

traveling at 45 miles per hour, in the passing lane, with the left blinker
on! Wink

I know it's not completely out of chacter for him. But it is beyond
the boundaries of his past irritations.

I disagree. Unless the little guy is a bit on the jealous side...
Nez has a new book & a lot of success at his virtual ranch...

I can't discount how his home life may be impacting this rant.

I don't know their history. I gather there is tension? Anyway, these

We also had Micky and Davy as the Monkees on "Changes", now it's time
for Mike and Peter to do an album as the Monkees. 12 variations on
"Lady's Baby" and "Circle Sky" Smile

I don't think we could ever get an album from Mike and Peter as a duo,
though I always thought the two should've teamed up for an album. If
it were to happen, I rather doubt such an album would include yet
another variation of "Lady's Baby" and "Circle Sky," although they
could do a twist on new versions of the songs by each having the other
sing their song. My idea for a Nez and Tork album would be the two
write all of the songs together, deciding who would sing lead on each
song or if both would trade leads on the same song. Of course, you
could have guest appearances from other musicians but while I suspect
Micky would say yes right away, Davy would be an emphatic no!

Davy has made several unsavory comments about Cassidy through the years.
One time he said something about Cassidy "having no soul" or something like
that. The Cassidy fans were at arms over it. They were posting on all the
Davy guestbooks and forums and just raising hell.

Yet, the few times they have performed together, you'd think they were old
friends. So who knows. It's just another case of Davy's mouth popping off
too much about the wrong things. I don't think he usually means harm...but
there may be more truth in it than not, too.

I think it's a bad case of ego wars...Cassidy has always struck me as
having the biggest head of any Hollywood celebrity. Davy, I don't
think it was ego so much as pride. Cassidy boasted in auto-bio of the
"Partridge Family" having been the bigger TV hit and having six gold
record awards to the Monkees's then-five gold record awards. And while
true that the PF series was the bigger TV hit, the Monkees turned down
the opportunity to continue their series and their five gold albums
have since been certified multi-platinum and joined by one other
platinum album and two additional gold albums. Cassidy won the
bragging rights on the series but lost the bragging rights on the
albums as there have been no new certifications for the PF albums
since the first were awarded in the 70s.

From what I've seen of him in TV interviews, he doesn't come across as
the angry, grumpy old Monkee. But, in print, the same words can take
on a different meaning than what he intended. And unfortunately,
reporters usually don't qualify any comments he makes or comments any
celebrity makes. The reporter just puts them out there, leaving
readers to draw their own conclusion.

I saw Davy make some long forgotten nasty comments about Micky, Peter
and Mike on stage when he was with the Teen Idols tour in 1998....the
person who reviewed the concert for the local newspaper refused to
quote Davy's remarks because they were so nasty. Davy also made an ass
of himself by being rude to a teenage girl during the concert. It was
not Davy's finest hour.

Ouch! Given his recent remarks about Mike, Peter and Micky, it would
seem not much has changed in eleven years. So much bitterness and
anger. I suppose there is a reason for it, but what a pity Davy just
can't let it go. Davy has admitted to having a drinking problem in the
past; wonder if that could explain the rudeness to the teenage girl
and his comments about MP&M then and now?
