As I wait to see the triumphant return of "Yes" to the Billboard Box
Score chart, I continue to be fascinated by the numbers posted by so
many different touring acts.

Here's a sampling:

4 Steely Dan, Sam Yahel Beacon Theatre
New York, N.Y.
July 28, 31, Aug. 1, 3-4, 10-12, 2009
$2,805,195
20,779 /
22,322

24 Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons Capital One Bank Theatre at
Westbury
Westbury, N.Y.
Oct. 9-11, 2009
$518,357
8,397 /
8,400

32 Steely Dan Paramount Theatre
Seattle, Wash.
Oct. 12-13, 2009
$423,280
4,706 /
5,678

62 Ian Anderson Beacon Theatre
New York, N.Y.
Oct. 13, 2009
$189,159
2,647 /
2,802

66 Smokey Robinson DTE Energy Music Center
Clarkston, Mich.
July 23, 2009
$163,574
13,236 /
15,247

120 Dennis DeYoung: The Music of Styx with Rock Symphony DTE Energy
Music Center
Clarkston, Mich.
Aug. 28, 2009
$70,219
9,589 /
15,247

181 Foreigner The Fillmore
San Francisco, Calif.
Oct. 8, 2009
$41,420
1,290 /
1,326

182 Australian Pink Floyd Show Warner Theatre
Washington, D.C.
Oct. 7, 2009
$41,370
1,030 /
1,847

Oddly enough, for the second week running, there was not a single
European show on the chart.

Hopefully that trend will end with "Yes" showing up in the coming
weeks.

I'm curious about this one, he had to sell 9589 seats to raise
$70,219. Seems odd.

Looks like they are hurting too (well, almost sold out, but low
gross), but I forget your exact figures on Yes's California stop.

Did I tell you about the time the Fixx played a local college here and
drew what seemed to be 20-40 people max? Truly a debacle.

Are you trying to bring YES's ratings down, with your world wide net
opinions? You didn't even see their show. For all you know, Squire and
Howe may have invited you up on stage to dance for the history books.

ticket prices were: $39.50, $29.50, $11, $3.

I'll guess that they sold a lot of $3 tix on that one. Maybe good for
the venue...how much does the $3 ticket holder spend at the show?
Another $20? Maybe something like that.

"Yes" played the Warfield in San Francisco, which I believe is larger
than The Fillmore...but they only sold 420 tickets!

Just kidding...I don't remember how they did at the Warfield, but it
wasn't a lot better than Foreigner.

I'm curious about this one, he had to sell 9589 seats to raise

Does it, really?

daughter was killed in a car accident, then his wife died of cancer less
than a year later. He put down the sticks and went into (spiritual)
hibernation for nearly three years. In the meantime, Geddy Lee and Alex
Lifeson each put out solo albums, and did some producing here and there;
they didn't grab some lameass tribute band drummer and go out touring,
much less *as Rush*. It seems to me you'd have to be either seriously
hard up for cash, or not care a whole lot about the bandmates you've
spent decades working with, to go and do something like that.

Rush have had a stable line-up since touring to support their first
album. Peart hadn't spent 3+ years prevaricating about touring with
Lee and Lifeson before his family tragedies. Peart, Lee and Lifeson
hadn't spent several years before that arguing amongst themselves.
Peart didn't have a history of kicking Lee or Lifeson out of the band
went it suited him, or recording Rush albums in which he got session
players to replace Lifeson's guitar work.

The members of Yes have never had the same, close personal friendships
that have supported Rush through all these years. You could say they
do "not care a whole lot about the bandmates [they]'ve spent decades
working with". If this comes as news to you now, I suggest you haven't
been paying much attention!

so the grumpy old guitar player carries a serious grudge and after
*years* of slacking through his part in the band, and then a few years
off, he's suddenly remembered how to play guitar and he's out to
*stick it* to that bastard Anderson by playing to half filled rooms
*all over the world*.

LOL, what an asswipe.

don't forget the part about at least one of them being seriously hard
up for cash...and about the two tribute guys that would likely take
any work they could find.
