Hm.  Wakeman says you have to have Anderson for it to be Yes.  Anderson
says you need both himself *and* Wakeman.  Is Jon just being nice?  Is
either one correct?

Maybe Jon is nice, he seems to get on well with Rick at the moment.
But Wakeman is absolutely right.

I've used this for the latest poll on my Yes news website: seehttp://www.bondegezou.co.uk/wh_now.htm

I would vote for "Yes has to include Jon and the current line-up
shouldn't call themselves Yes".

waitaminnit...isn't that what Wakeman said?

Exactly. It's kind of... weird when the wisest guy in the classic
lineup turns out to be Wakeman.

Wakeman always did have the quickest wit...and generally, when he
spoke, he made some kind of sense. White often makes sense as
well...but the others, generally, not so much.

Some guy had the notion that Squire could bring in the Spice Girls and
call that Yes. Any real fan knows that the lineup has changed enough
over the years and would be aware of who's playing now and anyone
that's a casual fan won't be aware and won't care anyway. A good
idea? Maybe, at least that band wouldn't be a tribute Yes...but maybe
this tribute band could be called Spice Yes...featuring Grouchy Spice,
Sousy Spice, Happy Spice, Phony Spice and Sonny Spice.

Maybe that would sell some tickets.

so you were able to state clearly what Squire said and what Anderson
said, but had to throw a twist into what Wakeman said.

That's some pretty fancy poll work, you got goin' there, Henry.

I'd say it's up to the current lineup to prove that they're NOT a
tribute band. A good way to do that is to introduce new material.

Which versions are Yes and which are a tribute band?
Are Steve Howe and Chris Squire paying tribute to themselves?

I don't care whether they call it Yes or Squire, Howe, and White formerly of
Yes.

Actually, that was the idea at first. It was supposed to be "Howe,
Squire and White of Yes". Then it just became "Yes", without warning.
Just like Jon Anderson was suddenly and discreetly demoted to the
"alumni" section of the Yesworld site. I wonder if Mike Tiano gave a
call to Jon before doing that...

Well, I'm a real fan, so I know what's going on. And that's *exactly*
why I think the whole thing is a freakin' joke. But you're right, the
few remaining people who care about Yes know that Jon isn't the singer
anymore.
