JA has a new video up on iTunes called "Never Ever".

I like this song a *lot* more than "Music is the God of the
World"...and I think the simple video is pretty cool as well.

I had the opposite reaction to it. I thought it was horrible, lame and
embarrassing....and that frikking bow tie?????

The simple video shot in his garden looks cheap and nasty too.

so you like "MitGotW" a *lot* better than this? I suppose I shouldn't
be surprised.

but more of all those things than "MitGotW"? I don't know, Paul, I
don't think it sucks as bad as that other one...in fact I think this
one maybe has potential.

Now you're flaming him for his looks?

I guess that's what can happen when you spend decades drinking
yourself silly, Paul...you wind up wearing a "frikking bow tie".

I like the video...it's simple...and yeah it does look cheap, although
I must have missed the nasty part. Surprising that...I usually spot
the nasty stuff right away...I'll have to look at it again.

maybe next time JA should get a guy to stand in and pretend to be
him...he can dress all in white...his white jeans pulled up to a neat
cameltoe, his white shirt can have a big wide collar...and he can wear
a gold vest...and then he can prance around like he's George Michael
or something. Maybe that could work better for you, Paul.

Ah, c'mon. It was fun. To me, the tie and the banjo-ish sound make it
seem as if he is playing off some old 30's-ish country tune or
something. The song came out a little while back, not sure where, as
I've heard it before, but it's just for fun - clearly not something
intended to be some serious work.

This is very strange - why do you think J.A. would put something like
this out?

BTW - is it me or do all of his solo songs sound like the exact same
song- I don't mean the stuff on the records like animation, song of
seven, olias etc - I mean the past few years of strumming along with
an acoustic guitar.

left to his own devices, I suppose. How much can the guy do by
himself?

Once again though, there is evidence to support the notion that the
Yes guys, all of them, have more or less run out of music. Sure,
there may be a bit here and a bit there that could have potential, but
certainly not the stuff necessary to making another good Yes record.

They're at retirement age, but you demand more?

I demand nothing, you COSSHF. Of course I won't be giving them any
more of my money unless they do something good to earn it, but that's
not a demand, just a condition.

If you're right about them being at retirement age, maybe they should
just retire. But then again, it's far too late for them to go out
gracefully, so maybe they should ride the Yes horse fully into the
ground instead.

I agree with you, Paul.

Jon's new video looks like it was shot with a camera-phone. The tune is
instantly forgettable, too. I found his professorial garb a bit odd as well.
It makes him look even older than he is.

When you're playing everything on a Strumstick or Backpacker Guitar--like
Jon--everything tends to sound the same.

BTW, these instruments were created by Bob McNally, who I met in the late 80s
at a crafts fair in Morristown, NJ. He told me he designed the Strumstick
for people who don't play a musical instrument. The Strumstick has only three
strings; you fret the first string with one finger, and strum all three
strings with a pick. Due to the way the instrument is tuned the other two
strings automatically produce a chord.
