Celtic Frost - Monotheist - dusted this off for a blast for the first
time
in at least 18 months!

Probably been that long for me as well.

I still listen to Monotheist several times a year. Absolutely stunning
album.

I always love it when I do play it but it`s so goddamn bleak I can`t be
doing with it often.

Mastodon - Crack the Skye

Still in the running for AotY.

Yup.

the competition is tight this year

Yeah, I may have to do a top 40! Mastodon is still a front runner for me.

Porcupine Tree - The Incident - not as boring as I expected but I still only
lasted 3/4 of the album.

Maybe you try again in a week. Admittedly you've never liked the
band, so it's going to be hard pressed for you to really like them.

Ian will never like PT. I'm surprised he even listened to this one.

You could be right.

Enslaved - Vertebrae - really enjoyed this after a stint away from it

Since I grew to like it, I've not had any problems enjoying it.

I've liked Vertebrae since the beginning Smile

Oh, hell, rub it in. So it took me a few listens to get into it.

I agree, but I just can't listen to it often anymore. It has a
negative effect on me.

It's probably running 3 albums fighting for it for me.

I normally like them for about 10 minutes and then I`m dulled. I gave this a
go because it`s been getting a lot of good reviews.

Pick the right song, and you will have only heard one song in that
time frame. But really, the new album is a 55 minute concept album,
with 4 more songs on a second CD. It's a lot to take in at one sitting
if you never liked the band before.

I`ve always liked it but I guess I have such high expectations from Enslaved
it didn`t meet them originally. Really enjoyed it yesterday.

As did I with the listen last week.

Bornholm - March for Glory and Revenge - really good blackish metal
Arthemesis - AOA - OKish but got bored after a few tracks
Man Must Die - No Tolerance for Imperfection - first 3 songs sounded pretty
good but I wasn`t really in the mood for it.
Porcupine Tree - The Incident - not as boring as I expected but I still only
lasted 3/4 of the album.
Raven`s Creed - Albion Thunder - good old school fun
Winterfylleth - The Ghost of Our Heritage - another great English black
metal band.
Gorgoroth - Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt - rreminds me of recent
Satyicon and as such got deleted.
Kroda - Cry to Me, River
Ensiferum - From Afar - I love this!
Destroyer 666 - Defiance
Enslaved - Vertebrae - really enjoyed this after a stint away from it
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Akercocke - Antichrist
Celtic Frost - Monotheist - dusted this off for a blast for the first time
in at least 18 months!
Emperor - IX Equilbirium
Kreator - Extreme Aggession
Slayer - Divine Intervention
Iron Maiden - Killers
Abigail Williams - In the Shadow of a 1000 Suns
Nuclear Assault - Survive
Tenet - Sovereign
Mastodon - Crack the Skye
Lau - Lightweights and Gentlemen
Wodensthrone - Loss
Manowar - Sign of the Hammer
Venom - Black Metal
Negura Bunget - Om

Been away on holidays, away from the 'net, but wanted to know if
anyone had heard Myndsnare. It's got a huge 'Death' (as in the band)
influence going on.

SG (tonnes of great licks thru-out)
