Our little talk about fav vocalists made me re-examine Ray Gillen's
work. I picked up a really awesome copy of the Eternal Idol with
Gillen on vocals that is better than th ereleased copy. I also found
a 3rd Badlands cd and a bootleg of Sabbath with Gillen in Texas. Does
anyone know of anything else good Gillen did that I am missing. He
was a great vocalist.

I liked the first Badlands CD a good deal, the second though, just
didn't get many plays.

Forgive me for asking but did Ray Gillen pass away? ("He was a great
vocalist.") The one exception would be Cinderella's Tom Keifer who
hasn't passed away but had something happen that'll mean he'll
probably never sing again.

Ray Gillen passed away in 1993 due to AIDS.

In regards to Keifer what happened is really sad (vocal chord
hemorrhage) and I hope he gets better but his singing was at times
rather annoying.

Not as annoying as some DM vocals, I assume.

No way. Don't get me wrong, I liked and still listen to some of
Cinderellas stuff but his vocals at certain times just hit me the
wrong way.

They are one of the few bands who have played my home town on tour.
It was a show. Granted they never played all that heavy stuff, but it
was funny, you could tell all the old album songs were harder hitting
than the ones off of the new album. This was on their second album
tour.
After this, the third album I heard, I didn't like and sort of just
didn't listen to them anymore. I didn't even know I actually have one
of their CD's. Glam, Hair metal, pop metal? Not sure which. I don't
think I have heard the album since the 80's.

Basically I took the songs I liked from each of their cd's and made a
one cd greatest hits.

That is the way I feel about a lot of those bands from the 80's.

I've got a CD called "5th Anniversary Memorial Tribute". It is
supposedly his last recordings taken from the Sun Red Sun sessions. It
only has 5 original songs and then a bunch of alternate versions of the
same songs plus an interview. It's been years since I've listened to it
so I can't accurately comment on the quality of the CD. There is one
song, however, that I do recall as being really damn good, its called "I
Know a Place". It kind of sounds like JLT era Rainbow.
