He's probably talking about "Toy Story on Ice".

Nope. Not toy story. Them Crooked Vultures. John Paul Jones, Dave
Grohl and Josh Homme. Alain Johannes was rythym guit. Was 15 feet away
from JPJ. Very good show. Very LOUD..and hard too. I figured ol' JPJ
woulda gotten into somewhat mellower music by now but nooooo, its on
the hard side.
JPJ looks good-better than Page and Plant imo. He looks younger than
his years and in good shape. I guess (all those stories of him)
avoiding the parties has helped keep him healthy.
It was somewhat of a fashion show for instruments. All of these guys
switch guitars and basses EVERY song. JPJ played some stuff that was
downright silly looking. He played one of those keyboards that goes
around your neck...kinda reminded me of a Devo thing., One of the
basses had lights on the fretboard another had the fretboard angled
upward to be used with a slide. One looked like an 8 string bass that
he played with a pick-( 8 string set up like a 12 sting guitar). I
think there was maybe a 10 string bass in there also?
JPJ also played keyboards and used the Bass foot pedals. Seemed to be
having quite a good time (danced with himself while playing the
footpedals).
Dave Grohl is an animal on the drums!
I am unfamiliar with Queens of the Stone age but Josh Homme handled
the lead vocalist /frontman job easily. I wanna pick up some of their
songs now.
All in all a great show. Band was tight. |
