I don`t understand this anti-ipod thing. No other mp3 player that I`m aware
of gives a decent memory size and the things work perfectly well.

I have a 30GB Creative Zen, it has superior sound to an i-pod and a
decent sized memory. Other than that I think the i-pod is a decent
machine. I-tunes is a bit shit, but the actually mp3 player itself is
decent.

30GB a decent size? That's pityful, it's the one reason I have
steered clear of the Itouch because I want a decent size. 160GB
covers my needs, but I could fill that, twice over.

It's perfectly decent, I'd love it to be bigger, but 30GB gives me a
decent amount of music and a reasonable amount of variety to that
music. It may not be as big as the 120GB i-pod, but it's perfectly
satisfactory for my needs.

Well I have just done a scan of the music on this computer (which
doesn't have my entire collection due to the lazyness of the owner)
and found that
I have 252GB on it. I am also in the process of ripping more of my
blues CD's, especially my Chess collections. I don't need all of that
on my Ipod and but it's good to change things round. If I had 30GB I
would be changing stuff far too often for me liking, rather than the
every 6 months I currently try to use.

Ole` Dinosaur Tom going digital at last?

It's a given that in the near future there probably won't be CD's,
or they will be harder to buy, and local record shops probably will be
gone in most smaller cities.
I don't think in the near future I am going to have much choice.

It's just a machine. I want good memory size when I buy, and one
that works is a definite plus.

I am not sure what a standard CD at high bit rate would take in
memory to be put on an mp-3 player. I may want 300-400 albums on one
when I get it. I assume I'd need a lot of memory for that. I doubt
30GB will cut the mustard, so to speak.

I used to have an 80GB ipod a few years back and it pissed me right off
having to decide what to keep on and take off. With a 160GB I don`t have to
worry. Admittedly my need to have such a stupidly large amount of music on
me at all times has decreased now I`m not sat in a car for 10 hours a day
but I still like it all to be there. I think an ipod sounds perfectly fine
but then 30 years of metal has taken it`s toll on my ears!

Say what you deaf cunt?

that have cost you 2 grand it doesn`t matter much. I ripped an Iced Earth
song at both 192 AAC and at full lossless once and played them through my
computer one after the other and couldn`t tell a jot of difference.

You did say your hearing isn't that well after 30 years of metal. I
suspect mine isn't the greatest after a similar time, but I don't want
to reduce the sound quality if I don't have to.

At 192
300-400 albums wouldn`t take up that much space, I have over 15,000 songs on
my hard drive taking up just over 100GB, which probably works out at about
12-1400 albums.

I just don't want to be limited so much. If I am going to do this
someday, I don't want to regret not getting the extra space.

At some point you'll move into the early 00's and the earth
will stop
spinning for a fraction of a second.....but by then it will be

I have been looking at I-pods and Mp-3 players of late.

Tom

fuck ipods
The jack socket is just your size.
E.

I don`t understand this anti-ipod thing. No other mp3 player that
I`m aware
of gives a decent memory size and the things work perfectly well.-

Well I have just done a scan of the music on this >computer (which
doesn't have my entire collection due to the lazyness of >the owner)
and found that
I have 252GB on it. I am also in the process of ripping more of my
blues CD's, especially my Chess collections. I don't need all of that
on my Ipod and but it's good to change things round. If I had 30GB I
would be changing stuff far too often for me liking, rather than the
every 6 months I currently try to use.
