I heard Pat Boone singing JP song"You've got another thing coming".
And he absolutely destroyed the song. I mean he destroyed it.

Pat Boone is no metal singer. He's a soft song love story singer.
He has the voice to sing. But not metal songs.

Hey Pat. Stay with love songs mate.

Welcome to 1997. He released a whole album of Metal covers. I found some of
it funny, but most of it bad.

I remember that very well. But when I was listening to the JP song.
I was laughing inside. Pat Boone is a great singer. He should
stay with the type of songs...made him famous.

I thought you were just pointing it out for the first time. I actually
bought the cd for the Priest song and Holy Diver.  The rest I didn't care
for. I don't even like the originals. Still, it's pretty funny.- Hide quoted text -

While good for laughs, the CD actually has good music on it.

Pat Boone can sing whatever songs he wants, and it will not effect
me in any way. I don't listen to Pat Boone.

The music scene has changed since Pat Boone started... and if you look
at Pat's career, he's done many covers... so as to make them
acceptable for a certain audience.
He's been in the movies, esp. "The Cross and the Switchblade" from
the early '70's in which Erik Estrada was discovered when Erik played
Mau May gang member Nicky Cruz.

I remember watching an interview on television with Boone when the cd
came out. He claimed to be a fan of heavy metal and wanted to
present the songs in a different way. Personally I can take it or
leave it.

Not related but while eating lunch I cracked a wisdom tooth. Odd,
there's no pain, (yet). Going to have to have it pulled soon.

While talking about the economy, I couldn't help but ask, is the
club still getting a good crowd? Or have you actually went back to
work yet?

I was looking at Blabbermouth. Apparently there is a PM band named
Nostradamus

Swedish power metal band NOSTRADAMEUS will release its sixth album,
"Illusion's Parade", on November 13 via AFM Records.

Never heard of them.

While this is not related to Pat Boone in anyway, Dave complains
about Endgame sales in US.

In a separate posting on the MEGADETH forum, Mustaine reveals his
disdain for the U.S. branch of Roadrunner Records for allegedly
dropping the ball in regards to the promotion of the band's new album,
"Endgame".

He writes, "I don't know what to say. How a record company could be
presented with a worldwide critically acclaimed record, and that they
can let it plummet down the charts in just four weeks into the
hundreds, is inexplicable.

"I knew I shouldn't have done this. Why didn't I trust myself?

"I regret a lot of things in my life, but this is the most
regrettable."

"Endgame" has sold around 72,000 copies in the United States since its
release four weeks ago. The CD has registered the following U.S.
weekly sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan:

Week 1: 44,696
Week 2: 12,833
Week 3: 8,640
Week 4: 5,583

Really though, in this new era of lower sales for CD's across the
board, horrible economy that is just seeing a bit of hope of recovery,
and the fact that the last couple MD CD's probably haven't crossed
200,000 sold in the US, just what did he expect to happen? This sort
of pattern to sales is quite common. Few metal/rock bands ever see the
numbers go back up after the initial couple weeks.

It's almost like the what if JP did an album about equal to PK when
they did AoR, would it have made much difference in total sold? I
believe the answer we all pretty much agreed on was that it probably
wouldn't have made much of a difference.

Tom

A couple "what if" questions for Wyrd.

I don't know, if Priest had pulled a Painkiller out of their hats and
add that to the publicity and newness of Halford's return they might
of got (for today) some high numbers. I don't believe even a cd equal
in quality to Painkiller would bring them much more sales today than
they already enjoy.
