I hate to break the roll everyone is on of not actually discussing
Priest, and I waited over a week to see if someone else would mention
them, so I didn't have to, but what the hell is the deal with those 2
new Halford songs? He sounds a bit like Udo on Get into the Spirit, I
keep expecting him to be like "you knoooo ittttss Christmas" or
somethign like you know Udo would sing thankfully he doesn't go that
far and I think the similarity has to do with the way his voice his
(poorly) mixed.. The other song is sort of better in the sense it is a
classic Christmas carol so it has a good melody, but the problem with
We Three Kings is Halford's really weak phoned in vocals. He does it
in this flat monotone, almost his speaking voice. This is the guy
who sang Before the Dawn? Unbelievable.
My initial problem with Halford 3 was it's gimmicky nature, imo the
Priest camp has kind of run out ideas and instead of continuously
retreading old ground or trying to ape new bands, they come up with
(or someone suggests) an idea and they run with it (2 CD Nostradamus
concept album, A Christmas themed solo album, and probably next up is
a "retro" themed album..) whatever.. I prefer that then the creative
pit a lot of old school bands fall into, but not if the end result
sucks. I hate to say it, but from the sound of these 2 songs this cd
is gonna fall into the latter category.
Maybe the rest of the album will be better. I hate to pass verdict
on 2 singles... but what is your opinion?

This was dreadful. I turned it off after 54 seconds.

This was almost as bad. I don't think I'll bother even downloading this.- Hide quoted text -
