All of these are awesome.

Never heard of this...tell me more...

Blut aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta II - Dialogue with the Stars
Blood Red Throne - Souls Of Damnation

2 bands that have never really grabbed me...don`t think I`ve heard either of
these...are they new?

I brought Blood Red Throne up a couple years ago. They grabbed me
then,
but haven't played 'em for awhile. Someone had them in their playlist
a couple
days ago and I made a positive comment about it.

Quote:
Astra - The Weirding

Another one I don`t know.

I played it a couple of nights ago myself. I'd suggest you
check it out (you liked Agalloch, right?). A little slow for me...

?

Quote:
Bibleblack - The Black Swan Empire

Didn`t care for this much.

Quote:
Believer - Gabriel

This was just *shrugs*...there.

Quote:
Arise - The Reckoning
Acheron - The Final Conflict

Acheron...rings a bell...Arise I`ve never heard of.

Quote:
Municipal Waste - Massive Aggressive

Love this immensely.

Quote:
Imperial Vengeance - At The Going Down Of The Sun

This struck me as something you would like. Was I right? I thought it just
OK.

Quote:
Pantheon I - Worlds I Create

Played this last night, sounded pretty solid if un-remarkable.

Quote:
A Hill To Die Upon - Infinite Titanic Immortal

Another name that rings a bell...have you spoken of them before?

Quote:
Dissection - The Somberlian
Possessed - Beyond the Gates

\m/

Quote:
Decapitated - Nihility

Never really got the hype over this lot.

Quote:
Astra - The Weirding

Another one I don`t know.

Quote:
Absu - Absu
Woe of Tyrants - Kingdom of Might
Augury - Fragmentary Evidence
The Black Dahlia Murder - Deflorate

Impressed with all of these...have you taken to Augury yet? I`d have thought
it something you`d like.

Quote:
Necrophobic - Death to All

Another band I`ve always been neither here nor there about.

Quote:
Opeth - GR
Insomnium - Across The Dark
Slough Feg - Ape Uprising
Immortal - All Shall Fall

Good stuff....although I`m still not totally sold on Insomnium. I like them
considerably more than little e but nowhere near as much as yourself.

Quote:
Dream Theater - Black Clouds And Silver Linings

Only ever played this the once...never really felt the urge to go back to be
honest.

Quote:
Candlemass - Death Magic Doom
Enslaved - Frost, Eld, Mardraum, Monumension, Below the Lights

Particularly awesome.

Off work today so have been spinning stuff...

Megadeth - Endgame - can`t get enough of this one
Municipal Waste - Massive Aggressive - and this seems to follow it well
Slayer - Hell Awaits - still getting regualr spins after nearly 25 years!
Enslaved - Vikingligr Veldi - been in a real Enslaved mood of late
Obscura - Cosmogenesis - another `09 release I`ve played to death
Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle Earth - just because I enjoy your abuse

and some new stuff

3 Inches of Blood - Here Waits thy Doom - thought this was kinda cheesy
fun...although the singer does push my power level tolerance limits to the
max

Paradise Lost - Faith Divides Us - gave this a go after Bomber`s
recommendation, it`s OK, certainly better than the last time I heard
them...but I did get bored with it half way through ( compounded by the
fifth song being particularly awful ). Might come back to it when I`m more
in the mood.

Drudkh - Microcosmos - ah...another quality black metal release to add to
the `09 list!

Wodensthrone - Loss - and another! This is absolutely great, one minute I`m
dismissing new black metal the next I find 2 albums I like a lot in a
day...and they`re English too!

Destruction - Curse of the Antichrist - a live Destruction album...you just
know this will be good. Excellent.

No I find Agalloch boring as hell...it`s Tom and Wyrd that love them. I
prefer the pacier side of things as well!

A friend of mine made a similar allegation at Bloodstock after
watching MW absolutely rip the place apart. He found them to be poor,
and couldn't understand why everyone was going berzerk for what he
described as a dull band. Needless to say I no longer listen to his
opinions, he also thought Girlschool were brilliant.

Girlshcool were at hellfest as well, I thought they were absymal.

I don't think I have heard a single track from them. I am not
inclined to either.

Nothing springs to mind, but maybe if I was unfortunate to hear them I
might recognise them.

I'm surprided you don't like Det Som Engang Var. Regardless of one's
opinion of varg or anything else he's done, this record is in the same
class as Anthems, Vikingligr Veldi, and Somberlain.

The problem is that it has the name Burzum. I have not heard all of
the catalogue as the bits I have heard I have detest. So I have just
avoided them.

I like that album and would concur that if you like other early BM bands
there`s no reason why you wouldn`t like this.

The problem is disassociating the music from my opinions of varg.

Glad that's not a problem for me, as I find all metal
"1nterLLecTuals!" to be completely ridiculous, and all attempts to be
"mature" to be laughable. Kristian Vikernes isn't even the stupidest
person in metal, so his downs syndrome patient-like rants don't bother
me in the least.

Aske and Det Som are among my favorite BM records produced. The
desperate intensity in that music blows me away.

Sometimes an idiot just annoys in a certain way. Maybe it's not what
they say, just that they exist. Not many people in metal garner such
opinions, Anselmo is another, but to a slightly lesser degree.
