Here ya go boys and girls:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gundu1yLjWY
That's the most bizarre thing I've heard in quite some time.
"Ven-ee-tay a-doo-ray-mooose"? I dunno, Bob ....
"this is one of the MOST UNLISTENABLE thing ever released. if you took
a DUCK and swung him around by the neck that what BOB sound like.
someone should make him listen to this. UNLISTENABLE. and EMBARRASIN"
It's pretty bad. I know Bob got a strange sense of humor, but this is
seemingly unintentionally funny, and I agree, embarrassing. But thousands
will buy it, and I guess Bob will have a chuckle.
Speaking of Bob, I finally got that first album by Karen Dalton, which has
a
picture of her with Dylan, and Fred Neil, from way back in the day. Great
album, though not quite as excellent as her second one. Her voice is like
a
jazz instrument, a horn or maybe a sax. Just phenomenal. And very spooky.
Now I've got to get that live album, with the DVD. Can't wait to see and
hear what she was like in person.
She was truly one in a million. Can't thank you enough for pointing her
music out to me. It's darn shame she only did 2 albums.
"the BOB record is AWFUL, by singing with the old BOB DYLAN voice he
could do better, nothin cant be this bad.
but hes bigger now than ever. this is the most bizarre thing. that
something SO BAD can be bought by so many and when he put out good
stuff back in the day nobody cared. i mean i dont know which is worse
this one or his last one. but he needs to gargle."
Yeah, I see the allmusic.com gives "Christmas In The Heart" 3 stars, while
they only gave "Shot Of Love", for example, 2 stars! Something wrong with
this picture. |

seems that he got it goin knowin that the worse he makes it the more

LOL, maybe so. But he may have just peaked; he gonna have to try real hard
to make something worse than this. |

going to sound like.
Funny that most folks felt the same way when "Nashville Skyline" and
"Self Portrait" were released! Folks that he went and jumped off the
deep end mixin that country soft twang from what they had been used
to.
Anything with them Christmas songs to mix em up rather then the
standard fodder.
Bizzare? Yeap But I'm one of those who enjoy bizarre sounds once

It did take me awhile to get used to the Nashville Skyline voice,
admittedly. But there were a few great songs on those 2 albums. "Lay Lady
Lay" and "All The Wild Horses" are world-class, and they alone trump
anything on the holiday record.
I don't think it's the voice so much that kills the Xmas album for me
(although it helps); it's more the fact that he doesn't really give the
songs any personality or style BESIDES the croaky voice. No interesting
musical arrangements either, and the Stan Kenton-esque background singers
mixed with Dylan's froggy lead is just bizarre.
I do wish he'd done the Draedel (sp?) Song, though .... It would have been
worth the price of admission. |

Same here. I rejoined emusic and have been grabbing some Dylan albums
I'd never heard. I started with "New Morning" and "Under the Red Sky"
just because I had a hunch I'd like them. There are a few more from the
70s and 80s I don't know.
It's worth the price alone. But you were right a few months ago--there's
so much great old stuff from the Columbia catalog that makes emusic
worth it.

I didn't like "Under the Red Sky" much, and think it's probably the
weakest Dylan album of any. Are you familiar with "Street Legal" from
1978? Now that's a killer album that is every bit as good as anything
that came out in 1978, imo. |
