Maybe because I like listening to older stuff I just find the notion a
tad bizarre.  If I look at the bands I have played the most in the
last 12 months, you might see a telling trend.

1) Iron Maiden
2) Metallica
3) Black Sabbath
4) Led Zeppelin
5) Cradle of Filth
6) Pink Floyd
7) Gun's N Roses
The Rolling Stones
9) Thin Lizzy
10) Kreator

Yeah I think I called it a 7 earlier somewhere. I do think it`s a decent
album as I said, just nowhere near the brilliance of their previous 10
releases. Tom pointed out I gave it 15 listens so I can`t think it`s a good
album...if I actually thought it bad I can assure you it would have got
nowhere near 15!!

Here are my top ten favorite bands I would say I like all of these bands
equally on level or another I know most of these bands have released some
crap albums but this is more an overall list. It was hard as hell keeping
this down to ten bands.

How often have you listened to the older albums, 50-100 times each?
Or is it more. How many more listens do you think you're going to give

 You found me out. I don't care to speak for the majority. I just
think for me, there's not a chance I'm going to like every album by
any band who's recorded 10 or more albums.

Why though? If a band stays pretty consistent with their sound and it`s a
sound you like...why wouldn`t you like them all? I can see how you may feel
they`re running out of ideas or recycling themselves but "not like" them?

Going back to what I said on another thread about Vader...I do think they`re
a tad redundant now ( in that they haven`t had a new idea in 15 years! ) but
I do enjoy listening to all of their albums if they`re on.

I`m enitrely ambivalent towards them. Neither offend me but I wouldn`t
choose to listen to them nor care if I never heard them again.

i liked Pantera alot(became a fan when VdoP came out) now, i pull those
cd's out a few x's a year(i spun their last two last month).

Yes but it's shouldn't be the only deciding factor when it comes to
rating an album.  I keep wondering how you know exactly how many
listens you give each album.  Do you keep extensive notes?

How Tom thinks

1-5 listens - "I can't rate this album yet"

6-10 listens - "I like this album, it's good"

11-15 listens - "I am getting bored, it's a bad album"

  I guess I'm the easy target.
