In general, Bruce, you are correct, but if you would ever have an
opportunity to listen to the actual disc that I just designed, you
would
find it filled with all types of psychedelic production tricks from
Richard Perry.

Bruce, generally speaking I'd agree with you & we've been thru this before
with Todd about what he labels as psych. However, Tiny Tim ventured into a
lot of different genres.
This song is probably the most psych that he got and it is psych for the
first three minutes. Then he reverts closer to the well-known Tiny Tim
style for the last 1 1/2 minutes of the song.
"The Other Side" - from Tim's 1st lp (1968):

The link didn't take me anywhere. Todd takes a lot of license with
stretching which artists he says are psych, but he's gone too far this
time. I did hear "Tiptoe" the other day in my car, for the first time
in several years. I was listening to several hundred items from 1968
all week. All I can say is I was glad it was a short song. It would be
bette if it was about 25 seconds long. Once you get past one verse it
gets painful to listen to. |

Okay, but there's 26 songs on Todd's disc.
You can make a case for something like "Reflections' by the Supremes
as being Psychedelic, does that make them eligible for a 26 song psych
disc too? |

That's the way Todd does 'em. He's previously said (and this is simplified)
that if the artist has ever put out something he labels "psych", then he
starts with that & then fleshes out the CD with other recordings by the
artist which are not psych. In the case of Tiny Tim, he had to do a lot of
fleshing out. Although as Todd said earlier in this thread, the producer
did a lot of psych flourishes throughout Tim's lps, usually about 5-10
seconds at a time, often at the beginning or ending of a track.
Todd has a lot of strange rules with his projects, but I've always
liked him despite the big difference in our respective musical tastes. |

Well, in addition to "The Other Side" (with its uncanny ecological
prophecy), there's also the orchestral psychedelia of "Strawberry
Tea" and his remake of The Doors' "People Are Strange". A
number of the other songs have that old-timey psychedelia like
The Holy Modal Rounders. Then there's Nico from The Velvet
Underground doing vocal effects on "Then I'd Be Satisfied With
Life".

Here's a video of "The Other Side" from YouTube:

They took all of the psychedelia out of the song for that performance. If
those kids had been a couple of years younger, they'd probably been scared
out of their gourds. |
