Dream Theater - Black Clouds and Silver Linings
Is this the new album? I didn`t realise it had leaked. Any thoughts?
It's not bad, not as good as some of their classics but at least it's
got less of the modern influences in it.
Other than a few dodgy lyrics in places, I am really enjoying this new
one.

I thought lyrics didn`t matter!!
I don't obsess about them, I don't read lyric sheets, but sometimes
you can't help notice them. Listen to the thing before you
criticise. Then you might see what I am talking about, rather than
appearing as a clueless idiot.

Straight up prog, it reminds me of Yes a little bit.
I just realised that I wrote Yes, that should have read Pink Floyd,
however I don't think that tells the full story either. It is put
simply very good early 70s sounding prog rock.
I like this, but was not nearly as taken as you seem to be.

I wasn`t criticising, you`ve said time and again you couldn`t care a less
for lyrics, it was a comment that stuck out.
What I was refereeing to was hunting down the indecipherable lyrics
of DM/BM. However when the lyrics are perfectly clear, as is the
case here, you can't help but notice them at times.
Most of the time, even clear lyrics pass me by. I might have a bit of
a sing song in the car with the kids, but generally lyrics don't
interest me. You can quote/mention the best lyrics in the world, but
I would take a generic or even sub-par guitar solo every single
time.

It is very Floydish and on initial listen I am enjoying it. One I
suspect is going to be a regular spin.

Best you go and have a listen, then you might see why I made the

Pfff, predicting what you`d like is almost impossible. One minute you hate
fast, brutal death metal with growly vocals the next you`re buying an Origin
album. FA are pretty fast but quite melodic / technical with bits of
classical music drifting in here and there...GD are death metal but far more
tuneful. |
