Well, then start walking, I'm not even going, as Peter isnt one of my
faves. I'd LOVE to see Micky, but he doesn't seem to play out this
way.

That's who I saw Micky perform with!

The Dead Elvi is the Chiller Theatre Convention's house band and Micky
played with them in Spring 2008 and 2009. Every saturday night during the
convention there's a big music party in the main "pit" area and this year
they had Taylor Dayne, Mark Slaughter, Micky Dolenz and the 80s band Missing
Persons. One of the Dead Elvi members is Kevin, the guy who runs the
conventions, by the way.

They have the cons twice a year (spring and fall) and the guest lists are
usually over a hundred celebrities. This year they had Tony Curtis, last
fall they had Leslie Nielson. In the past they've had Val Kilmer. They get
some fairly big names. If you live in the New Jersey or New York area
they're a lot of fun to attend and I always find some really oddball stuff
in the dealer's room.

Whaaaaa??????? All of Purple Haze? Gimme Some Lovin is a new
addition (for me). Nice!!!

Yes, all of Purple Haze. He does this bit (which is also on his live album)
where he describes what it was like when Hendrix opened for the Monkees. He
starts playing Purple Haze then interrupts himself by chanting "WE WANT
DAVY! WE WANT MICKY!" Everybody laughs, then he says "Hey, that sounded
pretty good. Want to hear the rest of the song?" The crowd cheers and then
he plays the whole thing.

Gimme Some Lovin was a surprise to me, too. Sounded great, though.

When I saw him in August last year he was also doing "Oh! Darling".
Sounded super! Coco sang "White Rabbit" which made the group of 60-
somethings in front of us get up and leave! lol But the biggest
surprise was in October when he actually sand "Don't Do It." I nearly
fell over from that one. He changes his show up quite often so it's
always a treat to see him perform.

We seem to get Micky a lot in NJ.

I think the last time MD played here in Austin was at an in-store for
his Kid Rhino release, and that was his mother (now RIP) lived here at
the time. (Don't go buggy, detail-freaks -- she only lived here
briefly or something, but we've already verified that my memory is
correct on that fact!)

Mike of course has roots in Texas, and Peter occasionally shows up at
the Cactus Cafe on UT campus (coincidentally downstairs from the
Longhorn Ballroom where Nez did one of his best-remembered full-band
country gigs).

Tangentially, see my new post entitled: "What Are You Doing Hangin'
'Round?"

Ohhhh, yes, now I remember! I've seen that bit many times!

I just picked up that Saturday Morning 1970s 2 DVD set that came out this
week and when I watched one of the bonus features I was surprised to learn
Micky did one of the character's voices on the old Funky Phantom cartoon
series. Very cool! I just wish some of the cartoons on the set held up a
little better. I can't believe I sat through some of that stuff way back
when without barfing up my Frankenberry cereal.

Well, I don't know where Stafford is in relation to Austin, but
according to Micky's website he's going to be there on Sept. 19 with
the Teen Idols show. Here's the info:

Stafford Center
10505 Cash Road
Stafford, TX 77477
