Hi there. I'm trying to learn the piano parts to "Just The Way You
Are" from the note-for-note book. When I master that, I'll learn
"She's Always A Woman". I think these are my favorite Joel songs.

But, as I read up on Joel he claims that he hates the "Just The Way
You Are". I don't believe him. He might hate his former wife. He
might hate that the song is so associated with her. And he might be
really tired of the song because he's had to perform it so much.

But it got me wondering if Billy Joel has ever spoken of having a
favorite of all the songs he's written. McCartney is on record as
saying "Here, There and Everywhere" is the favorite of his songs. What
about Joel?

Billy has stated that he does not have a favorite song only a favorite
album which would be "Nylon Curtain". He considers all his songs to
be his "children" and loves them all regardless if they grow up to
"doctors or lawyers" or end up as "bums" on skid row. As for "just
the way you are", Billy's mind wanders as he plays the song live cause
he's thinking about eating since he doesn't eat before going on
stage. Billy doesn't hate the song but just "put it away for a while"
until he was no longer bored playing it.
