Hi all,
I've a couple of mandolins ... a cheap bowlback with an oval sound hole and
a teardrop shaped flatback with 2 f-holes.
I'm currently using stick on contact mics but with mixed results. Gain
before feedback isn't quite as good as I'd like and the tone from the mics
is a bit disappointing.
What's the best way to amplify these things live?
Piezo?
Better stick on mic?
Buy a new electroacoustic mando?
I should say that I own DI boxes, and PA gear so outboard stuff is not a
problem. Also, I'd rather not use a conventional mic as it would restrict my
movement too much.
Cheers,

Your best bet is to find a good LUTHIER in your area and have them
install a proper pick up they don't cost all that much and you will be
happier in the long run.
Piezo pick ups I hear are good but talk to the LUTHIER and see what
they say.
