For services to the hotpants industry presumably.

My mum had cancer and was brave - where does she collect her OBE from? |

But why?
For services to the hotpants industry presumably.
Well, she had cancer and is a brave lady. But should this be a reason?
Definitely not.
Thousands die of cancer every day.
I find her a bit vacuous and irritating, TBPH.
She's not irritating but I don't see why she deserves an OBE. "Services
to music" - singing someone else's songs and wiggling her arse about is
hardly a service to music.
So why was Elton John given a KNIGHTHOOD. When was the last time since
the 70s that he had consistent chart success. Although he was
successful for most of the 70s. loads of pop stars were successful
for a few years without receiving any honours.
At least Kylie has had considerable more success than EJ over a
longer period, and made a brave comeback from cancer. She could
easily have retired and lived on her wealth instead. |

I don't see why she should be awarded a musical instrument because she must
have loads. |

I remember when his singles weren't selling at all 20 years ago, then
he said he was giving all the royalties from future singles to an AIDS
charity, so his next single, a double A-side re-release of two flops,
Sacrifice and Healing Hands, went to No.1 without any trouble.

But like all entertainers, she's an attention-seeker, so she'll remain
in front of the camera/mic for as long as possible. |

She writes some of her own songs - 8 out of 13 on her latest album.

Lol! The curious thing about EJ was that he sucked up to royalty in no
small way . Apart from being a close friend (how/why??) of Diana, he
escorted Princess Margaret sometime in the '70s. I suppose kis KBE
was inevitable, but certainly not justified. I mean if he hadn't been
a friend of Diana's, and therefore not invited to play at her
funeral, would he have ever got his KBE? |
