I just got the album this evening as I wanted to listen to it.  I
don't know why people confuse this with Enya, as I believe her voice
to be much higher than Enya's.  Not sure about the theme on this
album, as it seems to be a more wintery/Christmas theme, and I think I
would have preferred something a bit less seasonal to start off my
collection Smile.  I enjoy the way she suttly changes the tones in the
last verse/chorus of the songs - you can hear this in _Hymn To Winter_
and _When Will My Heart Arise_.  I will listen to the whole thing
tomorrow, before going back to work on Wednesday!

Andrew.

Her voice is definitely much better than Enya's. I think the Enya
comparison's came about mostly from when she sang on the Titanic
soundtrack and a bit from her album "Innerst i sjelen."

"Northern Lights" does have a bit of a wintry theme, but not
necessarily Christmas, as only one song is an actual Christmas carol.
The song "Koppången" is actually more about springtime, I believe.
And actually, the majority of the songs are not grounded in any one
season. There are just 2 or so of the songs that are really
associated with winter. My favorite songs are "Ready To Go Home" and
"Going Home."

In my opinion, Sissel's best albums are: "Innerst i sjelen," "Nordisk
vinternatt," and "Into Paradise." If you'd rather hear her singing in
English than the various Scandinavian languages, then I'd recommend
"Into Paradise." (On "Innerst i sjelen," Sissel sings in 8 languages
and she sings in 4 languages on "Nordisk vinternatt.")

Cheers,
Rob
