Under directors like Fritz Lang, FW Murnau, and Paul Leni was truly
serious to the point of absolute absurdity. The actors took themselves
so damn seriously (even the extras). No sense of "it's only a movie,
let's have fun". Feels good to tell the world that Metropolis was truly
the work of around 37,000 human rejects (save for the truly smart
director Lang). |
