A pale comparison to the original Kick the Can on the
series, with Ernest Truex as the lead actor. What a
disappointment the movie version of this was.

Seek out the 1991 Australian film directed by Paul Cox, _A Woman's Tale_. It
is a portrait of an old woman trying to live out her last days in dignity.
As moving and uplifting a tribute to the best sort of human spirit as I've
seen. It starred Sheila Florance, who died of cancer nine days after winning
the Australian Film Institute's Best Actress award .

Speaking of Paul Cox, I'd also recommend INNOCENCE, with Julia Blake
and Charles Tingwell. It's a wonderfully romantic drama about "old
folks". Another one is Michael Toshiyuko Uno's THE WASH, with Mako
and Nobu McCarthy.

Absolutely! Some days this is my favorite Lynch film. I met a cousin
of the Straight brothers, and he was just as crusty and cantankerous
as Lyle and Alvin!

I don't know the average age of this group is or what the defination of
"old" is, I've heard it given as anyone is twenty years older than
yourself. Anyway "Twilight" is an excellent movie about oldish folks. Paul
Newman, Susan Sarandon and James Garner all play characters in their actual
age bracket. Heck - Paul Newman and Susan Sarandon actually have a nude sex
scene and look pretty good in it.
