We might as well post our ideas as delude ourselves that we can sell
anything.
Here's a not too bad story concept Murder mystery/war movie.
Patricia Frances Retton is born on a plantation in Malaysia. in
1932 she is about 19 years old. Her parents have only one child. She
and her mother have been trapped in this jungle wilderness for her
entire life at least. The business of the plantation is not teak, or
tea or mahogany it is heroin. Daddy aquired the property by marrying
mommy for it. Mommy is a ghost of a woman now who has just about
entirely erased herself. She is entirely helpless and dependent on the
old man. The old man is a Nazi sympathiser funneling money to Nazi
groups in Europe. He is sickenly rich and lives like a Dutch pauper.
His wife and daughter clothe themselves from the missionary ragbag
because "they don't need any more than that."
Mommy is very religious. She comes from a missionary family and
has about deluded herself that this is all proper and God's will.
Daddy is a silent menace around the house. Nothing happens without his
permission although he never raises his voice. "Your father would not
like that" is all Patty has to hear. She was educated at home and had
the life of a housecat who has never been outside the house.
Pappa ships her off to school in England at 19 hoping she will
snatch up a rich husband and get her off his hands. She naturally has
her heart broken by a cad who figures that a life chopping jungle in
Maylaysia is just not worth it. This girl has no life or future at
all. Pappa pulls her from school her junior year when it is clear she
will not succeed at the husband business. He pulls her just before she
can graduate and do anything for herself.
He figures his right hand man ( I called him Cole Marsterson) will
be willing to wed Patty and inherit all this lovely richness someday.
Patty is so furious she cannot speak. She cannot stay in England, she
has not money and only one road is open to her. She can't leave home
and get a job, can she?
Cole sees the advantages of this. Patty does not interest him, he
can get plenty of girl energy from the local chicks. Patty goes to her
grotty little wedding like going to chemotherapy. Her mother is so
clueless or deliberatley deluded that she actually thinks this should
make her daughter content. Patty knows that she will be a
childless/sexless married old maid.
The Japs are coming though......Patty senses it more than anyone
and is terrified. She has been locked into a Victorian tiger cage.
Daddy does a little
junk sometimes. One day mama notices syringes in his desk drawer.
Honestly thinking that the idiot does not know how to take his B12
shot property she removes them, puts it all into one BIG syringe and
motherlike gives him his every six week B12 shot like she always did
They find him dead on the couch of a "heart attack." There is no
pathologist, no cop, no autopsy and a hasty tropical burial.
I have not finished this plot out. But, Patty must find a way to
escape the Japs, make a life for herself, and maybe even escape her
husband. I did think of making him a reasonably sexy dude for the
dramatic tension. Patty is a mouseburger with a very good brain.
Compared to the average 12 year old Malaysian hula girl she seems
sexless and plain to everyone.
She honestly does not hate Cole. Cole was forced to wed her to get
what he was owed by pappa. Pappa owed him plenty. Cole took all the
heat, kept everyone in line and did not get paid nearly enough for it.
Patty trumps them all. She searches her fathers office after his death
and finds a will. She and mom get chicken feed and Cole gets $50,000
pounds plus title to the property. She and mom are still trapped. The
rest of Daddy's millions is bequeathed to strangers in Europe. She
just types up a new will, gives mom 2/3 of the cash, amounting to
several Million pounds and herself 1/3. Cole gets his 50,000 and title
to the heroin operation. Patty figures she can have her freedom now.
Naturally things don't work out that way. Please go ahead and
finish out Patty's life story. She deserves better than this. Call it
Calysto's dream. |
